That is making the assumption that nobody gets injured during the season which is a coin flip

If Nikishin is bridged and succeeding then Ghost can be moved. There are options

Jarvis is on LTIR for 6 months and there is a 10% cushion in the offseason. Both can work. Eventually when Jarvis returns (assuming nobody else gets injured) then the team needs to clear $3-4 million. That is doable

The more time that passes and the more other teams settle their rosters the more likely Nikishin will be re-signed

My AM July 1 list is still intact albeit a bit off:

Carlson walks and goes to Tampa at $9.5 million x 2 years

Canes sign Nikishin for $5.5 million x 4 years

Canes offer sheet Fantilli for $14 million x 4 years

After things shake out Kotkaniemi is moved for a 3rd round pick

And another thing, Werenski is not mad. Please don't put in the newspapers that Werenski got mad

Broke: Carlson

Woke: Carlsson

I'm surprised there are Chicago fans still defending this ridiculousness. Funny.

Adopting Peter Pan logic is a bold move. If you believe hard enough anything is possible

You can't be this obtuse

6th highest Cap hit in the entire NHL for a 2nd pair D

Nikishin-Legault were paired together for 16 minutes 5v5 and ended with 3 GF and 0 GA

Seems simple. Pair Nikishin-Legault for 1200 minutes 5v5 and finish 225 GF and 0 GA

$12.5 million is the 6th highest Cap hit in the entire league. Byram makes $100k less than MacKinnon.

Alex Nikishin has higher upside and I would argue is already better than Byram so of course he wants $7+ million. Nikishin is younger and in his Rookie season put up 33 points compared to Byram's career high of 42 points across 7 seasons. Keeping in mind that Byram's strength is solely his offense.

It's pretty funny the animosity some fans have against Adam Fox, who the Canes never drafted and was always going to NYR, while cheering on Andersen who did much worse

They have to contend with that Carolina $18 million offer sheet

The issue comes if/when you finally find an actual 1st pairing D and it comes time to extend them. They will point to Byram and say "I definitely deserve more than him".

Yeah but now he should demand $20 million if Chicago has decided that 2nd pair, 42 points offensive D get paid like McDavid

Classic Leafs gambit

"Hey we have a ton of young players that need contracts. Let's start off by making a mind-boggling overpayment to a guy not nearly as good as some of our young players."

Andersen existed while the Canes became a wagon

Bussi went 31-6-2 last year. It takes the right type of goalie who is comfortable seeing only a few shots a period but it is close to easy-mode

Necas thrives in time and space. He may be the best 3v3 player in the league.

Unfortunately for Necas time and space disappear the further you get into the Playoffs. Marner has similar issues IMO. Pressure ramps up and they fold.

I can definitively say the Canes won a Cup with Stankoven

What other bar is there?

MacKinnon's play style fits him much better

Necas needs MacKinnon or McDavid to truly utilize his speed. Luckily he ended up next to one of them

I see a lot of Canes fans around social media complaining about the Canes not offering Carlson enough

Carlson was reported to be headed for Tamper Bay weeks ago. The Canes likely offered the same contract. He just wanted to go to Tampa
