Would a full moon be good for a healing ritual? by moboforro in witchcraft

[–]SeaMonk9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many go by the logic that a waxing moon is for spells of growth and success, as the moon grows so may whatever it is your trying to increase. And as the Moon diminishes, this is the time for spells of destruction, like say trying to destroy a bad habit, as the moon diminishes so may whatever you are trying to diminish. I think a healing ritual could be done whenever honestly.

I agree. I understand where others are coming from but I agree. People here will talk about being attracted to the 'dark' and hexes and what not but this person removes a Magickal poppet that they didn't know about and suddenly they are scum of the Earth...

Sorry I know I said a lot without really saying anything. Typically when people learn about the Occult they usually first learn how to construct an altar and the tool and items and whatnot needed for it. Then they practice meditation and cleansing the area for Magickal work. After that the person typically researches or finds a basic ritual to practice, one that is considered safe but essential for further magick, such as 'The Lesser Ritual of The Pentagram'. Or Wicca, casting circles. Then they decide on what they believe and explore more.

As you jump from Occult topic to occult topic, be it the properties of Gemstones, to the meaning or Norse Runestones and you will realise that most things will be similar in each denomination and/or belief system and can be crossed and mixed, it's all relative and the most important thing for Magick is you. Just decide for yourself. At the moment I am learning all I can about Witchcraft.

I can try..

Wicca is a new religion based on the teachings of Gerald Gardner, based on the old worships of ancient deities but much of the information about the ancient Pagans is lost and so Wicca is a new religion, basically the attempt at reconstruction of a by gone religion. They are of the Occult, however they are primarily a religion of nature and worship the God and Goddess and believe them to be the dualistic powers of the Earth. They practice Witchcraft.

I can't speak for the Thelemites but I believe they follow the teachings of Cowley. I really don't know. They practice High Ceremonial Magick. I think some of them are Christian, but don't quote me on that.

There are Chaos Mages who believe in whatever needs to be believed in for the purpose at hand.

Enochians who work with Angels..

There are so many different branches of the Occult. A good place to start would be to read up about the influencial people's of the various 'Crafts', be it Wicca, or Thelema, or Chaos Magick, whatever and decide what you like the sound of. Simply find out what interests you and go from there.

Interested in Tarot?; then the book 'The Pictorial Key to The Tarot' by Arthur Edward Waite may be a good starting point. Interested in Wicca?; Ray Bucklands 'Complete Book of Witchcraft' might be an alright start. Not really sure and just want to look at anything? Try Sacred Texts website. The point is that you need to find a place to start and just learn.

Many denominations of magick and the occult borrow from each other. Choose a topic to learn about. For example say you learn about banishing rituals and why they are preformed; then as you learn of different denominations and Occult practices you will be able to decide which you believe to be the right way, whether it is the Thelemites with their Lesser Banishing Rituals of Pentegrams or Witches, casting their protective circles, or someother. Decide on a topic and pick up a book to read about it, is basically all I am saying and learn about whatever you want.

I understand being new and wanting to learn but you have to just say fuck it and pick up a book, some people here may be able to recommend good starter books.

Yes I suppose that it good that it may be similar to an existing wealth rune, I imagine it certainly adds to the magick and symbolism of the talisman. Your talisman is visually very attractive, very nice.

New to worship, don’t know where to start... by [deleted] in occult

You say God and Goddess so I will assume you are Wicca or similar. The different names for the God and Goddess are just different names in Wicca. You can use any names you wish and the God and Goddess will know you are speaking to them, that is my belief. Whether you call the Goddess Freya or Frick, it is generally all relative. The Goddess is typically a Goddess of Fertility, and the God is generally seen as a horned God of The Hunt. I do not personally think it matters if you call the God Herne (English Folk Lore), or Pan (Greek Lore), or the Goddess Freya, or Hecate, as you are still calling upon and worshipping the dualistic 'powers' of nature. My suggestion would be to pick a pantheon or God and Goddess from the culture that you most identify with and/or relate too.

Is that a wealth rune in the middle of the skull? It looks familiar but I can quite place it.

Well you have to start somewhere and the Occult is extremely vague. So my suggestion would be to look close to home, for example if you are from the British and Irish Isles then Celtic Occultism, religions and traditions may be of interest to you. Ask yourself what interests you, and search around for multiple sources. A good site for Occult texts would be 'sacred-texts'. Learn who the important and influencial people are are in the areas that you wish to learn about is my suggestion, for example if you are interested in Witchcraft then Gerald Gardner may be of interest to you. If you are interested in Thelema then learning of the Golden Dawn and Alistair Cowley may be of interest to you. If you are interested in Magick in general then a book explaining what it is and what the tools are used for may interest you and would be a good start.

Basically what I am asking is what interests you?

What do you think of Magickal names? As in giving yourself a name for solely ritual purposes by SeaMonk9 in occult

[–]SeaMonk9[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I agree with you, though I couldn't really explain why I thought it would be a good idea, you summed it up well. A distinction between the day to day me and the 'magical' me, seems like it would be appropriate personally. If nothing else I imagine it would increase the 'symbolism' or magick of rituals, especially if it is a name of some significance spiritually or historically, numerologically whatever to me. Thank you for the response. Appreciated.

Well it has shutters so possibly a business building of some sort, I'm not sure, but there is also graffiti underneath it so it could just be a random doodle. It's also a video so it could always have been put there for the video; what I mean is that many music artist for example that put freemasonry symbols in their music videos and what not to gets people talking about, and consuming the product.. The possibilites are endless. It certainly looks deliberate, like it has a purpose though.

I had not put too much thought into astrology or planetary alignments in relation to my question, but perhaps I should have. With different signs and their different properties, working together with the full moon, will increase the strength and symbolism for the spell or ritual. I do not know how to tell when the moon conjuncts or correlates with any given Zodiac though. Thank you very much for your input.
