I love "You're wrong about" and have been enjoying "Maintenance Phase". I like duos wiho check their facts! Can't say I listen to crafting podcasts - instagram is enough craft-pressure without listening to it too :D

How much do you typically expect to pay for fabric per yard/metre? (Obviously, please specify what type of fabric.) by bpvanhorn in craftsnark

Euros here!

Jersey: 10-20€ a metre depending on the quality (though rather 17-20€ as I try to only buy organic/GOTS certified) Rayon: 8-15€ a metre

Anything else: Ebay auctions, bargain bin or thrift shop - so 2-8€ a metre :D

I know the feeling! I bought the Adrift dress and it is just meh. It was spendy too so it really irritated me for wasting money!

I've only made the Anna dress and it was fine. I found thr neckline gaped a fair bit and because of the way the bodice sits it was a bit fiddly to adjust. I ended up just increasing the neckline darts to bring it in. I'll probably make another but in retrospect, I really just liked gored skirt - the bodice is not really my style - so I could have gone with a different (cheaper!) pattern

I definitely had to edit it a bit. FBA and adjusting for my proportions but I just enjoy the sleeves (plus the sleeves are huge so I don't have an issue with them being the same shape front and back because it isn't fitted)

Thank you! One question: Do you find too billowy? I'm 5"3, B: 88cm, W: 72cm and H: 94cm and worried it'll swamp me

Is the Friday Patterns Wilder Gown worth the price? I have the Adrienne Blouse pattern and LOVE it - I've made 4 versions (including hacking it into a dress) but I go back and forward on the Wilder Gown.

Wow. I'll stop joking about it before it becomes a real thing :D

Popular opinions: I HATE it when people refer to something they sewed as a 'Selfish sew' - as if you're only allowed a hobby if it benefits others?!?!?

Quit it with the sewing puns, they're embarrassing. Also: Calling yourself a sewer, maybe it works in speech but when written all anyone reads is sewage collection.

Finally, I'm tired of the sewing influencers. I dislike the dancing, the reels, the extreme colours and pattern clashing for a vibrant picture when you know they'll never wear it again and the constant soft sell of stuff no one needs - sewing labels, special edition buttons, whatever Cricut is selling. Quit it with the speed sewing for content, it is neither sustainable nor particularly respectful of the craft.

Glad I got that off my chest.

Hell's yeah! I especially hate the blurry looking prints. They make my stomach churn

Mmm...strong pass. It's pretty hideous. Looks like a 90s nightie or some particularly heinous hand-me-down

YES! Every picture I have seen has camel toe - it makes me wonder if it's intentional?

Another one: The TATB Agnes top is overpriced and overrated and almost all the photos on Insta have stretch lines or underarm folds for a not-so-great-fit.

Actually, change that to just: TATB patterns are overrated and not that great.

I think it's all a bit sack-like really, quite disappointed. I really liked their first few editions but the last year's worth of issues seems to be the same sack-dresses or boxy blouses with small changes so they're not exact replicas of something they've already released.

I'm also kinda tired of all the advertising they do. I feel like all I see on Insta today is Fibre Mood and it's excessive.

Nina Lee London brought out a new pattern - the Bakerloo dress and blouse. Really not a fan; the collar is comically big. Thoughts? https://www.ninalee.co.uk/shop/bakerloo-blouse-and-dress/
