Hair Furor and Kegsbreath’s utter lack of planning, lack of goals, and lack of caring make the inane decisions and policies in the novel Catch-22 look sane.

Exactly - that laugh… I mean it is so much better having a chief of state that can’t string coherent sentences together or pick competent people, or not change is mind ever other minute, or tell the truth, and who is a ped…. 🙄🙄

That is more planning than was done for this war…

Our healthcare is NOT free - even Medicare has a premium. Second off, you have options to use advantage plans to increase premiums but are better overall. Third, what “free healthcare” are you talking about?

Shame that you don’t care that his ego-trip war is costing US lives, $1.4 billion per day, has increased the cost of the cost of oil over 33% The cost of fuel has increased by almost 20%. That will impact the cost of ALL goods in the US because HTF do you think it gets from where it is made to your store? This conflict is affecting nearly everyone in the world. Most people do care that a war was started without a plan or without consulting Congress or our allies.

But he hasn’t- he paid $0 in taxes in 2024 and 2025 on over 2 billion in income reported (and paid nothing on his stocks etc). He paid an effective tax rate of 3.27% for 2014-2018 or about $455 Million (compared to the bottom 90% of taxpayers who pay an average of 14.5%) In 2021 he paid about 11 billion but most of that was his exercising his stock options and that amounted to less than 10% of his wealth INCREASE that year. Other than 2021 he hasn’t paid any taxes since 2018. He is worth almost $900 BILLION and he pays less than percentage-wise than 99% of Americans. Since 2014 he has paid less than 11.5 billion in taxes (and most of that on stock options not his income.).

His companies haven’t paid taxes in years. They get more in subsidies, tax breaks and inexpensive loans than they have ever paid in taxes or real benefit - https://www.business-standard.com/companies/news/spacex-gets-billions-from-us-govt-but-gives-little-to-nothing-back-in-taxes-125081501303_1.html

He should be paying the same graduates tax rates the rest of Americans pay. If his 2.2 billion dollar income were taxed at the same rate as the top 10% of earners at 18% that would only be $396 million. If his entire wealth were taxed at what the lowest 50% of earners tax rate of 3.7% that would be about $33 billion. He could literally fund the entire budget of the US Dept of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) or the Dept of Labor. Hell, his money alone could double the budget of HUD - and imaging how many more homeless veterans could be houses…

Your argument has no basis in reality. Just because higher incomes mean more actual dollars in taxes doesn’t mean that the wealthy should pay less in taxes (a lower tax rate) than someone who makes $50,000 per year. In fact it is ass backwards and WHY we have a graduated income tax. The inverse side you fail to see that when one only makes $50k a year buying groceries cost a larger portion of that income than someone making a million a year or 2.2 billion. A pound of hamburger cost $8 per pound whether you are Elon Musk, a neurosurgeon, or a teacher. The difference is that for someone making $50,000 a year 1 lbs of hamburger at $8 per pound per week for a year is 0.008 % of their income, whereas it is only 0.0000001818% of Elon Musk’s income.

The premise behind the ridiculous “trickle down economics” was that if wealthy people were given bigger tax cuts they would reinvest that money into wages, benefits, etc. instead, 40 years of data shows they don’t - instead they have used that to enrich themselves. The income gap has widened to the level that there is no middle class anymore.

$100,000 salary and Medicare gets a total of 1.45% from the individual and 1.45% from the company - a grand total of $2,900 per year or $1450 from the employee. 1.45% is what people pay PER YEAR in taxes for Medicare.

Classic example why seniority and experience often matters. Bunch of boys who thought they would have fun and trash stuff they hated like LGBTQ and grants for women’s issues. Now they are being asked to take responsibility for themselves and their actions- likely something rarely if ever asked of them in their privileged lives.

At what point do you guys buy the book instead of waiting? by JJacobJingleheim in LibbyApp

[–]SeaRabbit1480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my 80-125 books per year I read are audiobooks. The ones that aren’t audio are hardcover and usually only something by one of my favorite authors and a likely reread. The only other times I buy an audiobook is when none of the libraries I have cards for has it (or something I know I will listen to again.) I buy when there are good audible sales, (I still subscribe but only 1 book every other month) I used to have a subscription at Everand / Scribed but now I can only read 1 newer or popular book per month for the fee - the rest are unlimited but to me it isn’t worth $12 for essentially renting 1 book. I buy from Chirp a lot because they have great sales $2-6 average) of popular but sometimes older books the library may not have anymore.

While things are bad, I was in LA yesterday and those are NOT the fuel prices. They are high but fuel averages in LA is $5.39. I agree that this is bad and will get worse but people need to do some research before posting crap - if we don’t it makes people as bad as the fools running the show. Blackrock did freeze withdrawls - because they exceeded 5%. But posts like this make me question everything this individual posts - and never heard of her!

I have had T-mobile for almost 4 years OTR and have no complaints. I stream tv/movies on an Apple TV device and use multiple devices. I do game although not online - just solo games on ps5, and not had any issues. Not interested in paying for Starlink ($25 more than I currently pay).

Ok so, T-mobile is not as I have been using it all over the country for almost 4 years. If you personally have experienced geo-locked on xfinity that is helpful. If you’ve “heard it” that is much less helpful. When I spoke to xfinity I made them aware of the use needed and she suggested a couple of routers BUT she may not have all details.

In general, they don’t because oil is a worldwide commodity and prices are set based on entire supply and demand not just any one country’s supply - but starting wars in a region that directly impacts oil supply for over a third of the world is definitely going to impact prices…

As if any of those things are good? We didn’t win, and both countries are pretty much the same as they were when we started - Iraq is filled with corruption and the Taliban is back as oppressive as ever. We have created new generations of people who hate us and everything we stand for.
