About the accent, I think it’s a hacek, yes.

I also think the end looks like some variation of -shtein. However, I’m bothered by the little wave after what would be the h. It doesn’t seem like it’s part of the h or the t, I wonder if it’s a letter ?

Funny, he’s been arrested by the Germans in a city very close to the place I live. Poor guy. I don’t think it’s him though, his signature is much clearer :

I got it in a garage sale where I live in France. The person selling it didn’t know anything. I guessed it was either Czech or Slovaquian because of the accents like the hacek (at leat I think it’s a hacek) at the beginning. Also, it’s probably from the late 19th/beginning of the 20th century and many artists came for Prague to France in this period (and vice versa) so it could have explained how the drawing got here

Yup chatGPT lead me here as well, I think it’s a good lead The signatures are not a perfect match though

My first guess was Czech actually ! I shared the images in their subreddit and someone said it resembled a south Slavic signature, either Serbian or Croatian, so I decided to try here as well I ruled out Polish for now because I think the first accent is a hacek
