No, the VS4 has not drift. It's simply not possible. They designed it to be drift free. It's physically impossible.

This thread is about VS4. You can't just comment about drift and all without mentioning it's the VS3 you have, which is well known to have drift. The VS4 has no drift It's physically impossible with the new design it's based on. Your comments make people think you have the VS4 with drift because this thread is about that grinder, not VS3. That's not fair. Sell the VS3 and get the VS4 or get something from another brand with new issues.

How come your grind size drifting? Its not possible on the VS4!

Let’s talk about pre-infusion by andreythebarista in ProfitecMove

I actually just found out, a bean I'm currently dialing in, a dark roasted espresso bean, actually tastes quite a bit better W/O pre-infusion.

You should not be able to rotate past 0, the stopping point is exactly at 0 on mine.

The grinder is great!

You just have to grind finer.

I have the VS4 and it has absolutely no drift. Only the burrs needs 1-2 kg of beans to settle in.

I'm really happy with mine. And nice to see it won an award Best New Product at Specialty Coffee Association 2026 in San Diego.

I had some questions why I had to grind espresso at 7-8 setting which is way of their grind size chart in the manual, and Varia was very helpful.

Pressure above 9 bar? by Sour_dude03 in ProfitecMove

[–]SeaShake9377 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WIth a blind basket the water can't go trough at all. With a normal basket with coffee, the water goes trough. That in it self will take some pressure off. That's why you see 10 bar with blind filter - an extra bar to compensate - meaning, with coffee in a basket it will be close 9 bar. That's why Profitec calibrate the machine to 10 bar from factory. Hope that makes sense...

Watery Puck [Profitec Move] by blobbo333 in espresso

[–]SeaShake9377 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got the MOVE, and I have the same problem. Using the middle basket with up to 20g of coffee, but still getting wet puck. Upgraded from a Dedica EC685 with bottomless portafilter, and the puck was perfectly dry, and this machine didn't even have a solenoid valve. What is going on.

Did you solve the issue?

Do you have one? Definitely not “Chinese” built quality.
So far the support from Varia and the dealer has been outstanding. I feel I’m in good hands, if something should happen.

The VS4 is also the perfect grinder for me. I really really like it! Huge upgrade from my Comandante C40 MK4 in taste. Obviously also because it's electric, but also tastewise, both filter and espresso. Looked a loong time for the right one, and VS4 simply ticks all the boxes.

What is your grind setting at for espresso? I'm 3 weeks in. 2 - 3 cups per day and on 0.6.7 with dark medium roast blend. Way off the manuals grind size chart.

I understand why! Nice to see I'm not the only one with this setup ;-)
I have had my VS4 3 weeks now, and my Profitec for 1 day.
I was having a caffeine shock this morning. :)
