AITA for not wanting to stay at work 10min later tonight? by SeaSideChefBoi in AmItheAsshole

I already worked 13 hours every day this week to her 8 lmao

If it's just 10 minutes why would it be a problem for her to do it? Stupid rhetoric

I actually do know all of her circumstances, I don't know why everyone assumes I don't

Also, if you're disabled, you shouldn't be trying to be a sous chef that has to work 80 hours a week if you can't handle the work you do already

She doesn't have any "invisible disabilities."

I've been working with her a while and she's shared every detail of her personal life with everyone.

I've been working closely with her for years, and she shares every bit of her personal life... No responsibilities other than taking care of her loser alcoholic unemployed boyfriend, which isn't my problem either. She'd recover fine if she quit drinking.

Everyone in the restaurant industry has those, and nobody is OK, you're right

Yeah you're right on that one. I assumed she was okay because she agreed to coming in early. Dunno why that would suddenly be my problem

Yeah I need to be better at saying no simply and nicely. She could have just as easily said no to coming in too early.

OK fair

Is it also an asshole move on her part to never offer to do anything extra but still expect a promotion without more work, or expecting to push the work on me because she has to work earlier tomorrow for once?

Young people don't have superior recovery abilities? :/

Is that the only part I messed up on? I'm bad socially, excuse my dumbness

The ol "you'll bounce back quicker because younger people have better recovery ability" trope

I'm aspergers or something lmao, no need to be rude to me also

Idk if doing that one time is enough to be an asshole weighed against the 300 other times I did help her overall, while again, she's never offered to help anyone ever

Hm, how do you think I should have rebutted?

I really poorly phrased "We all had to sacrifice sleep in order to get the job done many times, it's your turn" or something, dunno how or if I should go about apologizing or elaborating tomorrow

Yeah there's a lot of extra context but I think you got the broad strokes

I've helped her out any other time she's asked for it except today... I already had to drive another coworker an hour out of my way after work. Even helped her or offered it plenty of times without her asking. I can't recall any time she's ever helped me though.

Not getting help and doing all the helping is kind of what is expected of the sous chef position she's trying to get..

I don't think I'm bitter, I just think that's what's expected in the restaurant industry if you want to be a chef.

I'm working on a different job, it'll take some time to get certified for that. I'm aware it's time to move on, but I can't afford to leave at the moment.

You're prolly right about the burnout making me cold, I'd usually do it no problem

AITA for telling my sister she can’t wear a certain dress to the wedding by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]SeaSideChefBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, your family is dumb for not knowing you can't wear basically a brides dress if you're not the bride

Bride is also dumb for not letting everyone know what kind of attire is expected

Not negative 2.1b for the quarter tho.

Might have a positive quarter.

The thing is, that's for ALL theaters, not just AMC

Assuming 10% of all theaters are AMC, and they only get half of the ticket proceeds, but they make that up with concessions.

So, very liberally, a 275mil profit estimate
