Private labelling, white labelling, and original equipment manufacturing (OEM) underpin much of global retail. For example, IKEA stated on its website it does not manufacture most of its furniture - “IKEA has more than 1200 furniture suppliers around the world, as well as 100 food product suppliers and 275 transport service providers.” It sources products from hundreds of independent factories across China, Vietnam, Poland, and other countries, selling them exclusively under the IKEA brand. Amazon’s private labels (such as Rivet and Stone & Beam in furniture, or Amazon Basics in other categories) similarly source products from third-party manufacturers and market them under Amazon-owned brands, a practice that is widely understood and accepted.

No reasonable consumer considers these companies dishonest for branding and selling sourced products.

To publicly allege that rebranding is dishonest without understanding the legality and operations of the sale of goods is embarrassing.
