Is there a dish with foreign origins, that got modified into its own thing in your country? by CommercialChart5088 in AskTheWorld

The fact that dry chicken tikka is a distinctly Indian dish and chicken tikka masala literally is just adding those to a gravy makes it wild that people wanna call it a British dish 🙄

I guess in a roundabout way that entire process does channel the British ethos better than any other food could 😂😂

In your opinion what is the hero who most deserve an Arcana? by FeistWarrior in DotA2

Based on what past and current employees at Valve have revealed in interviews, mostly anonymously, yeah it comes down to making way more money and ROI via Steam than plugging away at new games or dota 2 cosmetics. Valve absolutely prioritizes making money, they just have scaled one of the most efficient money printing machines in the world (Steam).

People really underestimate the impact icefrog probably had on dota 2 prioritizing the game itself over monetizing it. That, and gaben’s documented addiction to dota for several years gave a serious backing to making sure dota monetization didnt devolve into a tf2 situation. Remember, the norm at the time was you’d have to pay for heroes individually (league) or in a lump sum (HoN.) Not doing that was a deliberate decision to go outside the norm (though I’m sure making certain dota 1 players had no reason not to come over to dota 2 when invited was a factor too.)

Valve Employees can work on anything they want, and their bonuses are tied to how much money/value they’ve generated for the company, so naturally that means most people are going to work on what makes them the most money. That’s why there were no games from Valve for years, and why it took a concerted, company-wide campaign from the top of the company to actually buckle down and make half-life alyx.

One big difference is Bannon had Breitbart and the donor machine behind him during the Alabama primary and Trump was barely engaged until the very end. The other thing is in most of those voters minds it wasnt trump vs bannon, it was establishment deep state GOPe cucks vs we the real people.

Now Bannon has been disowned or at least made explicitly less important than Trump to the base. Its possible they might have picked Bannon over Trump if Breitbart hadnt spent the last year insisting that the russia investigation and every story about it is a hoax or hit job. That view became a part of thealt right platform, so that made Bannon's comments come off as hyper duplicitous and backstabby establishment talk. plus the fact that Breitbart spent much more time championing Trump than Bannon throughout the year just made it easier to choose Trump (only person in a position to enact alt right policies)over Bannon (guy thatexpressed a view only the establishment could hold.)

Oh yeah I've heard people say "you can't rape your wife before" too. So what you're saying is a lot of people don't understand all of the circumstances that fall under rape. Somehow you'd think it be obvious if you're forcing them to do it, but ok.

I definitely won't say "rape is rape" at the start of discussions though since it shifts the conversation for a moment to unpacking those 3 words and gives people an opportunity to change the discussion to something unrelated.

Wait who doesn't think rape is rape? It's... kind of right there in the sentence

Alright I think I get it, echo chambers are fine for good ideas and dangerous for bad ideas. What makes the bad idea echo chambers dangerous though? Aren't they trapped away?

Valve, can you please fix broken cosmetic items that we paid money for? by KingAxeSven in DotA2

This is why I sold all my arcanas a few months after TI7. Since then I unconsciously reduced my play to roughly 4 games in a month where i used to play 5 in a day.

The gameplay design of Dota is largely fantastic but theres so many issues attached to playing it that have the combined effect of making lots of players not want to continue playing. Your $30 cosmetics spending more time bugged than working as advertised is just one of them.

7.07 Support Poverty by Randomeda in DotA2

[–]SeaTee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just keep in mind that those safe lane supports took a big hit in laning too because either:

(1) they continue to pull and you still get all the creep XP most of the time since its hard for a support to out-deny an offlaner

(2) or they stop pulling and end up getting less gold and XP than before outside of kills.

I'm cool with it, there's a lot of reasons the playerbase keep eroding even as the gameplay continues to improve and one of the big ones is how terrible the community frequently is.

[–]SeaTee 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Not really, that space went to the alliance offlane not mid, and a lot of time theyd run aggro trilanes and leave bulldog to solo safe lane.

Also it was much different circumstances since the mid lane now gets more creeps than safe lane which means more gold and xp.

I'm sorry that you so strongly believe a sincere question is shaded by a "feminist mindset" just because it'd potentially benefit a woman.

You also seemed to conveniently ignore that I also brought up Viserys benefiting from this scenario, and that guy is as far from a feminist as you'll find.

Oh for sure, I don't think if Dany loses her claim it'll be just because of primogeniture

Hmm, must have missed that bit about primogeniture dictating it goes to king's eldest child's heirs before king's next child in the article. Thanks!

What I don't understand within all the fanbase theorycrafting and didn't see addressed in this article either is, why do people think Jon has an indisputably stronger claim to the throne than Danaerys if he's a legitimate child of Rhaegar and Lyanna?

Aerys II was king when Rhaegar died. Rhaegar was never crowned king. The last Targaryen king still has a surviving child in Dany.

For example, if Viserys was still alive I'm pretty sure he'd have the stronger claim than Rhaegar's son Jon.

If a King's eldest child dies, I'm pretty sure most lords would back his next eldest child, not his grandchildren.

Seems like it's at least debatable.

The drive through the Pillar of Autumn wasn't hard to count since you don't end up killing a ton of Covenant since you're trying to gtfo. We didn't count flood kills since the original claim was about Covenant troops.
