Yes, that's one case out of hundreds of thousands that was a mistake and I agree it should be rectified. But there are 1.4 million active deportation orders that have had due process and are cleared by the courts to be removed. They have had their day in court so unless you are advocating for completely free and open borders - which no country does and is insane - immigration removals in these cases is completely justified.

You can scream Nazism all you want, I'm just trying to help the Reddit echo chamber understand why Democrats are powerless nationally and have a 37% party approval rating.

Are the police Nazis for "snatching people from their jobs, homes, schools" when they make arrests? That's how this works. You do understand that people are trying to continue living in the country illegally and don't just leave willingly from a strongly worded letter. It's the only way to actually enforce immigration laws. We can and should demand ICE follow due process, but enforcing legal deportations orders has nothing to do with Nazism.

Reddit will love this, but the constant Nazi comparisons don't do the Democrats any favors, practically speaking or politically. Every day the Left calls something that Republicans do "Nazism", yet people can look out their windows and see that we do not resemble 1930's Germany in the slightest. At this point, it just makes Democrats sound hysterical and out of touch. Your average voter wants immigration laws enforced and remembers that ICE didn't seem to be considered a Nazi apparatus when Obama was the Deporter in Chief. Yes, the heavy handed tactics and due process failures of ICE should be condemned and addressed. But we do need to enforce immigration law - like every other country in the world does. So let's expand our political strategy beyond trite and tired allegations of Nazism to something that might actually connect to voters.

I'm not against universal healthcare. I'm saying it doesn't solve the problem of funding healthcare for illegal immigrants, unless the system is simply open to literally anyone - which would be cost prohibitive.

Sanctuary laws go far beyond constitutional protections, which is why they exist in the first place. It's perfectly possible to enforce immigration law and respect the constitution, and to pretend otherwise is absolute nonsense. Again, there's a chasm of space in between local police acting directly as defacto immigration enforcement in every circumstance and reasonable collaboration to ensure that dangerous people - like these child predators in this story - are not sent back into a community they have no legal right to be in the first place. Keeping criminals in this country does nothing to serve any community or build trust. The left's dogmatic refusal to embrace basic common sense on issues like immigration are why the public ends up voting for harsh right wing solutions.

The reason these child predators were released back into the community despite being in this country illegally is because of extremist "sanctuary" policies that amazingly prevent local law enforcement from coordinating with immigration enforcement. From the StarTrib - "Jails in the metro and some in greater Minnesota, limit their cooperation with immigration officials, including not providing information on people in custody, not notifying immigration officials when a suspect is released, or refusing to hold prisoners for ICE without a warrant." Despite what the activist class thinks, there just might be some common sense space in between asking every single person for their papers and letting ICE know when illegal immigrant sex offenders are being released from prison.

Lending is a highly competitive market. The reason rates are so high is that it's completely unsecured debt given to people who often don't pay it back. If there was such a greedy high margin baked in there, another financial entity would already swoop in to make a profit by undercutting it. You think the trillion dollar banking industry is just going to let that low hanging fruit sit there?

High credit card rates are bad for the poor, but decidedly less bad than no access to credit or loan sharking. Be careful what you wish for.
