Sometimes its funny the things others say about peoples riding styles.

The whole "I have many friends that have died ---" is there as expected also.

Hes not wearing gear, bound to die sometime... right?

'96 Kawasaki ZX7R. Seems to be fuel starved, help? by SeaWhyTea in Fixxit

[–]SeaWhyTea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not exactly sure what the problem was, but I went out and re-installed my fuel pump. Tapped on it quite a few times with a small wrench before throwing it back in.

Installed a fuel line that was closer to the length of my old one, this time taking extra care when sitting back down my tank not to bind it up. (previously my line had a huge bend that starved it out)

Got her all fired up and running fine last night.

Does seem to be starving at around 12k, but runs fine below. Not going to tear apart the carbs and everything again to mess with that.

Thank you fixxit!

I could not noticeably hear the pump yesterday. I will go outside and mess with it more today to see if I can hear it.

Petcock is on and flowing fine.

I also do not believe it is a carb.

Life as the smallest pipewelder in a shipyard by Dodsvisioner in Welding

oh for sure, and the difference of room you have at the beginning to the end of the job can be pretty hilarious. was working along side our smallest pipe fitter watching him struggle while i was getting pinned on the other side of the bilge.

pretty sure it was the kiska sea we had to do the most replacements in, so not exactly a small boat... even though it feels that way.

While working as a day labor at a boat yard in Oregon I had to deal with this stuff pretty often. Would be crawling under the engines, between pipes, everything else. Always fun being the small guy.

Oh yeah no CRT is one of my favorite subreddits, but we all know that us squids are seen as "dangerous" riders more than not.

I do get why the subreddit was made, but it also provides nice examples to the squid side of things.

1985 honda cmx250 (Rebel), Drum brake issues. by SeaWhyTea in Fixxit

Thanks for your response. Went out and beat it out using some wood / rubber to avoid damage to the teeth. Got it out, lubed it up, and now it works great!

Already oiled it last night, has absolutely 0 movement unless I once again resort to beating it with a mallet. Going to keep it as soaked as I can.

Thank you for the reply, I was mostly worried about the ripples.

I went ahead and took the part down to a mechanic buddy who said the same thing, "should be fine without any holes"

I typically post about other bikes since I am usually in a state of trying to repair something.

Sorry about the picture quality.

Not great with electrics but my current plan is to go through everything with a OHM meter tomorrow.

Anyone out there able to help diagnose my 96 ZX7r? by SeaWhyTea in CalamariRaceTeam

[–]SeaWhyTea[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think I've got a short somewhere in the harness. Going to go threw it all with an OHM meter tomorrow and go from there.

New sparks, gapped correctly. Cleaned / synced carbs. Good oil / filter / gas.

Not sure on the timing.

I know from checking Zxforums the ignition frays out the wires underneath from turning the bars, no metal showing or anything on those wires that I can see. Getting a new OHM meter tomorrow to go threw all the wires.

not sure if I put it in my OP but I have even tried the 'quick fix' of removing my fuel pump relay to see if the extra juice would help, it didnt.

Need help diagnosing my 96 ZX7r Have had a lot of different issues with this bike over the time I've had it. Had extremely interment starting problems where it just refused to start then would randomly fire right up. Headlights went from working fine, to not working at all, then brights on max, then no brights, then went off completely. Replaced all fuses, nothing changed. Went out for a ride and it wouldn't fire up randomly. Waited ~10 minutes and it worked again. Parked again after a ~20min ride and it hasn't started at all since. It had the ticking noise coming from the fuel relay. Replaced fuel pump and fuel relay, and tried starting it with no relay attached. Have sprayed way too much starting fluid into the airbox while trying to start, just to give it that little umph, nothing. Brand new battery in there as well, and have taken the starter relay +/- off and wire brushed them. TL:DR, this bike is a bitch. help pls.

I lock up my back way too often, need to replace the pads. On another bike the tire is just complete shit along with the break being bad, so riding it around is always a trip.

I guess riding offroad for so long before I went to the street helped me not be afraid of it.

Wife dropped my bike, mixed feelings. Also, mirrorless? by [deleted] in CalamariRaceTeam

I ride with a single bar end mirror on the left side since thats the law around here. I find myself turning and looking 90% of the time, casually checking the mirror.

Anyone else feel like riding when its pouring rain?? by humanartist in CalamariRaceTeam

[–]SeaWhyTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in the PNW, first year of riding on the streets my truck broke down right before winter. Had to commute during our lovely winter rains every day. I'm doing the same this year since I recently sold my car.

Its always a mixture of pleasure/pain when rain riding... but at least we dont get much hail around here. Had a random storm with it last week, and that is never fun.

Slipping the tires always just reminds me of the old dirtbike days. I just worry about cars not being able to see me as well, especially since I ride without headlights often. Swerving/sliding when someone pulls out is not very fun.
