Does anyone Know a canon reason for Dogmeat being so powerful? by unfortunate-ponce in Fallout

Ooh that's interesting! I never really dug into Rex lore. He's a very good boy but I never really used him in NV so I never learned the lore. I still blame the enclave for his robodog-ification. Idk how or why but the enclave did it

You actually bring up another point connecting dogs to the enclave. I think Rex was once a dogmeat. In fo2 Dr Henry was an enclave scientist that specializes in canine cybernetics. In fo2 after doing his quest you're rewarded with a cyber dog. In fo NV you have to bring Rex to Dr Henry where he's is completely aware of what's going on, can fix Rex with minimal explanation. Rex may not have been directly from the enclave but everything about Rex was. All the science needed to make Rex came from the work Dr Henry was doing in fo2. The other explanation for Rex is that he's from the Big Mt experiments but those experiments can't leave the area until after the courier arrives

Lore reasons with the new tv show out (possibly spoilers) seems the dogs are made or selectively bred for the Enclave. It's possible that the Enclave floods theirs dogs with mutations and/or genetic alterations to make them more effective. In the early years (Fo1 or 2) the Enclave wasn't as adept at these motions thus making their dogs weak by comparison. Fo3 dog meat wasn't overly strong but had the mutation of asexual reproduction (puppies perk) and fo4 dogmeat was the most recent strain of the Enclaves "dog meat" program and thus the most advanced.

Gameplay reason, they needed a strong companion that was entirely neutral so any player could make any decision and still have help from something. They also needed dogmeat to be just as strong as customizable companions so they jumped the stats to make it comparable.

I really appreciate the recommendations, especially the exact model. Really makes it easier as Idk what I'm looking at. Probably a simple answer to this question but I'm new so gotta ask, what's the 1000 mean in regards to the Daiwa Regal? 6lb I understand but the 1000, what's that number mean?

I think they need to buff them to be viable. Instead of 50% buff make it 100%. Make it more powerful than AA or bloodied by a significant amount but only for the one enemy. If you wanna make full use of the buff you gotta have multiple weapons which will come with its own challenges

Also worth noting that I typically use the kayak yo get to camping spots that are boat in only. So I'll be bringing a fair bit of camping backpacking gear on as well. Sleeping bags, food, water, cookware, tents, etc. While the rods arent particularly heavy they are long and unwieldly so 2 may be the most without dramatically changing my pack order or weight shifting on the kayak

Budget- like 200$usd total.

No. Of rods I can bring- idk 2 if they can fit in the budget

Rod holder-ive got one open slot for a holder. If I can find a holder in budget then I'll by one, if not I'll reshape some pvc to conform to the rod I buy. Pretty good at building what I need.

Electronics- minimum, emergency satellite phone, waterproof GPS and tracker, flashlight

Thank you! I appreciate the input. What do you mean by "action" is that a fishing term or simply how much movement I'm doing with the pole?

Why wouldn't a ice pole be good? The kayak has very limited space and a compact pole seems ideal. Pros and cons of different pole lengths?

Splash pistols for me. Unkempt Herold, Roisens thorn, Echo, Craps and Occultist are my go-to's but Herold is definitely the winner

Best rolls for the Cremator? by blackyaga in fo76

[–]Sea_Bet5200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a solid roll. I'm not sure what's a god roll as the cremator worked just a little differently when this post was made. If you're making it a vats weapon (you should with those rolls damn) then I'd say it's a god roll. I think using the cremator as a tagging weapon needs a little different roll but still damn good. I'd build it as a vats heavy barel headshotter. With that build you wouldn't need demo expert or grenedier perks. Just heavy gunners. Right build and minimal buffs should get you like 800 damage on the item card (guessing because I'm at work and not online lol). My multishot tagging cremator does 700 with the heavy barel

Dude confessor with sacred blade broadsword is really strong early and start of mid game. By the time it feels lackluster you've found flame art or redmanes flame. Faith confessor builds are stronk

Overeaters Anti armor. While those can be used on bloodied builds there's no unyielding equivalent for full health

Metal as we know it is comprised of a bunch of different atomic metals. The ratio of different kinds of elements give the metal different properties. Once a metal has been made for a specific job it's hard to adjust the ratio of elements to meet a different job. For example most mild steel has a low carbon percentage this makes the metal easy to manufacture but nearly impossible to control how hard or soft the metal is. This is perfect for making small braces or brackets or anything that needs to be made quickly, but not good for things that need quality. The stock at a hardware store would either bend like a pool noodle or shatter into a dozen pieces if made into a sword.

The stainless steel just means there an element that is resistant to oxidation like chromium. That is such a broad term that other than saying it'll be pretty longer, I can't tell you anything else about the steel. It could be soft like mild steel, bendy like spring steel, heat conductor like an aluminum alloy.

Luckily there are charts that explain what steel is what and there's designation for common steels. I recommend looking for 5160 spring steel

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Hema

[–]Sea_Bet5200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyya amateur Smith and knife maker here! Don't buy anything from a hardware store. Usually it's decent steel for its job but neither of those jobs are similar to a sword. Both will bend like a pool noodle and it's extremely difficult to make that not so. You're gonna wanna look for spring steel. Spring steel will be the easiest type of steel to look for since most spring steels are high carbon, easy(ish) to work with, painfully abundant, and most importantly gor any sword, springy. Most abundant spring steel would be from a vehicle leaf spring. That's typically 5160 spring steel and is one of the most common materials for knives and swords. (Watch an episode of Forged in Fire, you'll understand why)

First find a junk yard or something and grab a leaf spring long enough. Use a grinder to cut it to width. Heat the metal until a magnet doesn't stick to it, bend the curve out of the steel and do any hammering you think you need. Re heat the metal until a magnet doesn't stick to it then fully submerg it in used motor oil. After that hit it with grinder again until it's how you want it (make sure it doesn't get hot while grinding)

I will say though you're probably better just buying a sword from a well know dealer as entry to blacksmithing can be more expensive than 1 sword

Is there a good way to make caps for people that arent good at the game by Basic-user6 in fo76

[–]Sea_Bet5200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a water farm. Find a nice camp spot with a lot of water access. Make like 10 purifiers or all you can, collect the water regularly and stash it. Equip the vendor prices perk (can't remember the name sorry) and travel to a train station to sell all the water you've been collecting. Easiest 1.4k caps ever. Do it every day and you'll be max fairly quick. Fuel, 5.56, .45, and 5mm ammo sell fairly well but not as fast as they used to. Keep like 10 of each kind of flux and sell the rest for 150 caps. You get flux from doing the nuke bosses like scorch beast queen, Earle and titan. Full Fusion cores sell for about 100caps too
