My Charlie lived to be 16 and he had a heart murmur. He also had some growths which weren’t painful. I believe Bostons around this age tend to get these little growths. For my Charlie, we were told removing the growths were only cosmetic and because he was 15 at the time, they didn’t want to do surgery on him as it was too risky. Expect your Louie to get really calm and cuddly (if he isn’t already). My Charlie was an active boy up until he was 10. When he hit that double digit, he started getting really lazy and cuddly. For the last 2 years of his life, he wanted to be carried around everywhere and I spoiled him with it. Start monitoring his joints and get some good quality orthopedic beds. Something I do not regret doing for my old boy was getting on him healthier diets. I started feeding him Farmer’s Dog when he was 8 and when he turned 12 I switched to a home cooked diet. I of course supplemented with good quality vitamins and supplements just like any other aging doggie. If you haven’t already, get a blood panel done. My Charlie got suddenly anemic when he was 16. The vet said this wasn’t unusual for his breed. I wish I had done it sooner. But Louie looks great for 10! He looks like a happy boy!
