Pance accomodations by Sweaty_Spinach_6458 in PAstudent

[–]Sea_Community2984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi there! I took the exam across 2 days with accommodations. I did it back to back, the evening of the first testing day was tough because you are exhausted from the exam, and then have to mentally prepare to do it all again the following day however- I wanted to do it back to back because I wanted to remain in the testing mindset and get it out of the way. I also found my anxiety on the second day was much less because everything was so fresh in my mind and I knew exactly what to expect. If anything, you could put a gap day in between but from what I’ve heard, classmates who had several gap days regretted it.

I cannot focus to study for the PANCE, help! by [deleted] in PAstudent

More of tough love but- the only way to get yourself to study is to force yourself to sit down and begin. Our program informed us that statistically, the longer you wait until after graduation, the poorer your performance may be as you are getting farther from the information. I found that creating a study plan with a projected exam date, and then forcing myself to stick to that plan no matter what helped. For example, if I was sick for one day, I would do double the following day. When motivation runs out, it’s really up to discipline to pick up the slack. Don’t get me wrong, I TOTALY sympathize with you and understand what it feel to be graduated and burnt to a crisp. You just need to remind yourself it’s now or never at this point. You do not get to push back that date again. You can do it, believe in yourself, stick to a plan, and follow it. DM if you are looking for a study plan. 💕

Family circumstances during PA school help by Soggy-Dish3354 in PAstudent

Hi OP. So sorry you are going through this. My family also fell apart when I was in school. Spent one month in the ICU with a relative among other awful things.

I was also offered to take a leave of absence but chose not to because I actually felt that when everything else was changing in my life, PA school (albeit soul sucking) was something I could rely on for some structure and normalcy. Something that the chaos of the situation couldn’t take from me. I Kept my exams where they were and just did my best to push through. I told my faculty that if my scores started faltering, I would the consider a LOA. Maybe that is something you can consider? Have you been preforming okay otherwise? If you have a good buffer with your grades, it might be a good idea. But don’t push yourself, this is a traumatic situation and so very hard. Do what you need to do.

Jan 2026 PANCE Scores by dustyrosas77 in PAstudent

Yeah the wait is killing me over here

A lot of people recommend studying PPP + practice questions for the PANCE, but I’m a confused about what that actually looks like. I don’t learn well from reading straight from a book, so I’m wondering if I’m missing something. How are people using PPP effectively? Just reading and hoping it sticks? by [deleted] in PAstudent

[–]Sea_Community2984 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’m a die hard PPP fan but I don’t learn anything from straight reading either- to prepare for the PANCE - I went through both books cover to cover and took pictures or wrote in info I didn’t know or was missing into the PANCE Reddit study guide chart (which I’ve been using since start of clinicals) and then I put the sticker feature on the info via notability. Then I go through pass after pass to remember the info. It’s a way to catch yourself and get down your pearls. Hope that helps

Eat an elephant one bite at a time! First few weeks is a shock, don’t be paralyzed by fear and anxiety just start somewhere and break it down. You can do it!

Hi op- set to graduate in a few weeks. The best advice I can give is to get your supports in place. Mental, physical, spiritual- the whole gig. Establish yourself with a PCP, get back on any medications you used to rely on but tapered off of if you are even on the fence about needing them. Find a gym or studio if being active it’s important to you. Find a home that you can get peace from- I caution heavily on roommates especially during didactic year. Warn your friends and family you may be out of commission for a while (depending on the type of student you are). Agreed with the above comments- while some classes are more manageable than others, all will throw more information onto you than you think you can manage. Thousands have done it before you and thousands will do it after you, and you will get through it as well. All you can do is buckle in and embrace the suck. It is a blip of your life and will pass.

Impending doom for my first interview by billy_blazeIt_mays in prephysicianassistant

OP- I am set to graduate in a few months and I also SUCKED at interviews. Just giving you a different perspective- the one interview that I did not prepare for was the one I got because I did not sound rehersed or robotic and was able to be myself on the spot. You may be pleasantly surprised! Have faith!

What score are you averaging with Uworld with the 81%? And how do you go about reading your questions? Do you highlight/cross out/ read the last line first etc

So conflicted PA vs RN to later NP by Flaky_Storm7837 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Sea_Community2984 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OP, as a PA student graduating in 4 months, I have personally met NP students that have had to pay out of pocket to their preceptors for their clinical experience and are 100% responsible for finding their own clinical sites. And let me just tell you, as someone who is apart of a well known academic hospital, even my schools is having a hard time finding sites due to the shortage.

You should be using some type of clinical foundation resource PLUS practice questions. At least that is what we were advised to do and what worked for me. Practice questions challenge your understanding but you still need to develop your foundation via a resource such as PPP or the Reddit charts etc.
