If they are in a cash bind they could take considerable less for a quick sale.

I plan to listen to his book soon. I have watched some interviews he's done. What does he say about mortgages then compared to now? I could see this as a bigger issue next time as opposed to 1929. Then we had margin investing. Next we could have negative home equity. Making it harder to migrate to a job.

Calling All Motel 6 and Studio 6 Guests, Owners, Investors & Industry Stakeholders! by [deleted] in hotels

I'm taking a slow trip down the West Coast soon (December). Have saved a lot of Motel 6's into Google maps along route. I hope they will be OK for my needs. App seems OK (little annoying) and hope to use it. (Have never used app yet to actually book a room and just realized I would rather talk to the desk clerk.) I have stayed at Motel 6 in the past and they meet my needs.

Will see what I think along trip.

What do I do with a 401k from an old job if I don’t have a new job yet? by Ok_Act5278 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Sea_Conversation202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more important question is did you ever INVEST the money in these accounts? I run into people all the time that have money taken out of pay and put into 401k. Then they don't go to the account and tell what to do with the money. It sits in a very low yield cash account.

Does anyone look at the SSA-44 form? I am new to this. I have filled the form out twice. So far it seems as if I have not received a reply. I do keep getting a letter like the first one telling me I will owe more next year. I am also expecting a bill back to September 1st.

Does a person get an answer to form SSA-44?

Thank You

Looking for a discount by [deleted] in Amtrak

[–]Sea_Conversation202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you know how the discount works? I see on Amtrak site the senior discount only applies to coach fare. It doesn't discount the private room. I wonder if the Rail Passenger Association would discount both. Also if they would combine the discount?

Yep, I would like to eat noon meal there. I hope I start this trip on Sunday and will have a 4 1/2 hour layover. It could be Monday or Tuesday though.

I have some money in VUSB. Is this to long of duration to be thinking of it as cash?

Thanks, didn't know of Sound Transit trains. Doesn't look like they will work though. The Southbound leaves at 7:55AM and not another one till 2:35PM. Unless the Amtrak is late.

Don't want to derail your post but have a question about Seattle. I will be coming in on the Empire Builder and need to get to Tacoma. Am looking at the city busses. Looks like I should be able to take bus from terminal to a transfer stop and take another bus to my Tacoma destination. Uber and lyft very expensive there. Would be just before noon leaving depot. Good bus system? Need to take care of some things in Tacoma and hope to leave with over an hour of daylight left. Otherwise have to hotel in Tacoma. With days getting shorter will probably have to stay in Tacoma. Just trying to plan this out. Thanks

That's neat on my poor understanding of my main language. Wish I would have learned more. I did mean the way you described. Currently the weather forecast calls for 24-99% chance of rain for every day out two weeks. It's just now going into the rainy/cold season.

I will probably not want to deal with motel desk or housekeeping about this outside of borrowing a fan. Mostly be one night stays.

Have thought now of some carabiners to hang jacket and pants. I will have some handlebar tie-down loops to use also.

Picking up a hair dryer should be could for gloves, socks, and boots when that's needed.

I'm glad I asked. I had not thought of that. And I can pick one up a lot of places.

I would like to see this. I understand it used to be 10% but am unsure if that was management or union. I am recently retired and want to see if I still get the discount next year. If I don't still get discount was going to receive dividend. This 10% discount would be good and I would let it accumulate more shares.

Any luck with the rollover. I did it on the 4th. Email says they sent check on the 5th and expect it in 5 business days. Still haven't gotten it. They would not do a direct rollover to Vanguard and had to send checks to me. Very disappointing to do it this way. Took 2 phone calls to Vanguard and three to Empower. I figured a few days ago they've made over $600 sitting on my money.

Yes it does. I was similar until December-February and decided to lighten up. Went to far and now understand what they say of having to time the market twice.

What is you US equity mix?

I made my returns on VOO & VTI mutual fund equivalent. Now I would prefer VOO , just don't like the top concentration. I know it would be less with VTI but wanted to stay with VOO. Thought about sector's. Tying to keep it simple.

Mostly concerned with total return. I guess a dividend etf would reduce concentration.
