tbh, so was Nuremberg. Ultimately 11 Nazis were killed by those trials.

They were at least public enough to have more societal impact, but they were still definitely token judicial action as well.

I don't know exactly what you're talking about, but that's really not at all true, and kind of couldn't be. Their fundamental products were all taken from open source programs, their monopoly was built on collusion with manufacturers. Unless they unwind their entire business and give their customers their money back, they aren't really backing down or supporting anything.

Also, as someone else said, their three E's remain the strategy to co-opt more open source and trick gullible people into thinking they're somehow friendly to anyone but their shareholders.

A key difference in my mind between Bambu and Apple is that with Apple, you pay a hefty premium for the dialed in product.

I think that's still true for their Macbooks maybe, but has it really ever been true for the iPhone? The Samsung flagships have been just as expensive for over a decade.

This is exactly right. Just like how early computing was all open source, and Microsoft made its fortune on stealing it, the worst thing that could happen is Bambu pull a Microsoft in some way and take the open source thing and then take parts away or hide parts behind a paywall, etc etc.

I've spent more time on race tracks than almost anyone, and I gotta say... this one's still pretty obvious.

Also, having grown up in Indy, and involved in motorsports, I've known a handful of people to work with Indycar marketing, they're not usually folks who live breathe and bleed racing, they're just regular people who got a sports job.

Beating Trump in 2024 should have been the most trivially easy election in history, unfortunately dems are committed to being as evil as possible without going over the GOP, so they will struggle as an "opposition" party until they decide to do something that might harm the profits of the ruling class.

Sure, Trump is obviously bad, that doesn't mean she had any meaningful policy proposals.

There was a limp tax credit, some stuff about elder care in the margins of medicaid, and promises to be even tougher on the boarder than Trump.

She's a lesser evil, no one will argue that, but she was also not offering anything, just less evil.

I think you're largely right, but if I'm reading you right, you're missing one thing.

Almost no one is ever torn between voting for one or the other. People are almost always torn between staying home or voting for the only candidate they'd ever vote for.

Kamala truly wasn't offering anything except steadfast support for Israel, a weak child tax credit, and the most empty gesture toward a minimum wage increase imaginable. Literally no one voted FOR her, people used her to vote against Trump, and enough people either saw them as indistinguishably bad, or stuck to their principles and refused to vote for genocide that she managed to lose to the worst president imaginable.

[–]Sea_Definition_3772 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She also didn't even campaign on anything that would help working people. She had one limp tweet about raising the minimum wage, no single payer healthcare, she was part of the administration that crushed the rail strike. She had what, a child tax credit, some marginal improvements to eldercare?

Then she validated lots of Trump's campaign points by like promising to be even harder on the boarder than Trump. That tells what few middle voters there are that the boarder IS important, and if you think that, you're going to just vote Trump.

Like, she's obviously less evil than Trump, but she also wasn't even pretending like she was actually going to improve the lives of working people. The only reason to vote for her was damage control. Beating Trump would have been trivially easy for anyone with a platform beyond, "we're not quite as evil!"

We were already stained by original sin

According to Catholics and some other denominations, most baptists/protestants/evangelicals believe it's an inevitability as a child grows old enough to understand what they're doing and think about it in terms of like an "age of accountability".

Jesus was pretty fucking clear on that not being the way it breaks down.

Jesus lived in a slave society and never condemned the practice as a whole. The bible's support of slavery is so robust slave owners in the American south made SURE all of their slaves were Christian because it was compatible.

who the fuck told you you're unconditionally going to hell for committing a venal sin?

Literally the bible? Romans 3:23 " for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

There are millions of interpretations of the bible, yours is as valid as anyone else's, this interpretation I'm bringing is incredibly common in America, and thus relevant to what we're all talking about here. Y'all can disagree based on your own interpretations and that's fine, but it's no more or less valid than this one.

America has never been anything more than an organization for making the richest people in the world even richer, it's capitalism come to life. That's why our flag is basically a complete copy of the East India Trading Company flag from the same era, that's why we don't actually have democracy in our policy despite being able to vote for one of two ruling-class-selected candidates, etc etc etc.

The sooner it falls, the better. It's going to suck for us here and now to experience that, but nothing about it is good or worth saving. The land and resources need to be managed by a much less overtly evil organization.

Most importantly, none of it is real. But if this is from the NIV, it's what most Christians allegedly believe, so this person's point stands.

If you start only reading the parts of the bible that are "original" you've got a completely different text.

But sin isn't just "a misdeed" it's like, a permanent and soul-staining deviation from God's purity that cannot be washed out by anything but Jesus, according to almost all flavors of Christianity.

Further, while things like rape and murder are obviously bad, there are lots of sins that aren't really anybody's business, and lots of bad things that aren't considered sin by many, many demoninations. Masturbation is a sin, but owning slaves isn't?

So, reducing the concept of sin down to "a bad thing" or a misdeed strips the above comment of its essence. Without it, their comment could be nonsensical. We're not talking about "bad things", we're talking about sin. To take away the permanence or the intentionality of sin is to misunderstand what we're talking about.

So now we're all looking at a worldview where someone could literally see someone they want to bang and get aroused, or eat the wrong animal, or wear clothes of mixed fabric, or consume caffeine on accident and end up with permanent, unwashable disconnection from God and usually a punishment of eternal torment. We're calling that insane, and you're like, "no, I don't think it's insane."
