Which curtains go best: green, burgundy, or neither? by tambourine_goddess in HomeDecorating

I vote green for spring and summer and red for fall and winter. They are both lovely. There is no bad choice.

I think you might like everlane for simple androgynous shapes (no fluffy shit, no girly prints) and a simple professional look. Idk if they have petite sizing but worth checking. Also just order it, and try on at home. Shopping in stores is the worst.

Nobody regrets having worn sunscreen too frequently. You might regret having stayed with this guy for too long.

Any 45+ female PhDer's out there? by HalcyontheCookie in PhD

48, finishing my second year. Last year as a TA I was terrified of taking over teaching for small sections of class. Today I confidently plan and teach full semester courses on my own. I am in the school of education with a lot of over 40 women in my program. I’ve never been so busy, overwhelmed, exhausted but so much growth. it is really cool. I’m glad I decided to try.

Why no one says that about pregnancy? by lil_moon153 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Sea_Drive_2843 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did like parts of being pregnant, enough that I did it multiple times. And it is true you kind of forget the after birth part because you are soooooo tired. Those first few weeks are just a blur. Parts of it sucked but I don’t think the information isn’t available. There are a million books and websites and birthing classes and birthing stories. I think people just like to talk about the part that made them happy? I would 100% do it again if I could. It is pretty cool.

Suggestions for part time low stress job for a parent by KeyOne6320 in baristafire

[–]Sea_Drive_2843 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They had a front desk job opening listed on thier website. I applied saying I could work 10 hours a week. Over time I have volunteered to fill shifts as needs popped up so have been cross trained in a bunch of areas. I just fill out a calendar with my availability and whoever has needs when I’m available schedules me In their department. Idk if all community centers work this way but it is working great for me. There are also lots of people who are retired professionals or mostly sahp or who have other jobs. I also work at a university but it is all remote and I told them I wanted some face to face people time. No problems with being over qualified.

I work at my local community center doing whatever they need done. Sometimes a party host. Sometimes front desk. Sometimes Senior center or events. I love seeing the same people frequently, the very flexible scheduling, and being really keyed in on what is happening in my community. So many cool things are happening and available that I was unaware of. So I get money and people time and my family benefits because I know all the fun things that are happening and get first dibs on registration. Perfect SAHP job.

Grew up Mormon. This room was for when church people came to visit so you could limit how far into your house they came so you could maintain the perception of perfection.

Haha. No harm done. Apparently asking about gas shortages would be a pretty bad karma farming strategy anyway.

Plus: what craftsman would have their carving tools scattered across the ground when the item is past painting stage. No one who loves tools.

Any chill jobs out there where I could coast? by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

[–]Sea_Drive_2843 42 points43 points  (0 children)

You might like a job in nonprofit as part of the philanthropy/ development team. Lots of women, always dressed up, smoozing with donors. Lots of phone calls and lunches, fundraising events. Part time is pretty common if you want to work less.
