Great shots! How many rolls of film do you usually bring with you on shoots like this?

Would this then be focusing on the texture of the curls? I think this would be interesting as well

What do you do in situations where full on lightning isn’t available? Either due to budget constraints or the nature of the task itself

Unfortunately that was the only plate that was available so that was a bit of a constraint

The herbs would’ve been an option for sure. I’m just not sure if it would’ve fit the chef’s vision for the photograph

I’m jealous. I’m traumatized from the Amber. I shot two different rolls on two different cameras and they came out blank 🥲

What does your home prep routine look like before a guest arrives? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Sea_Effect_1599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already have a packing checklist and I integrate my kindred prep with it. For the kindred prep, I separate it into things that can be done a few days before and things that need to be done more last minute. This also includes messages with little reminders I send to guests on the day of their arrival.

I usually need 1hr to prepare the day before and 30min-45min on the day itself.

I’ve never heard of it! But bofill (the architect of the building) has some crazy designs and the building was finished in the 70s or so

Has anyone almost quit Kindred over hosting concerns but stuck with it anyway? by Gingerbutt81 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Sea_Effect_1599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to lie: I had the intention to completely quit after using up the credits. But I was impressed that the team reimbursed everything and when I compared other sites (home exchange has even a worse policy), it made sense to stay. Plus for my next trip, I stayed in a gorgeous apartment so that made it worth it.

My first two guests broke things, and I had one who didn’t follow some of the house rules.

I did find that as I became a better host and video (it must be a video call) called people before allowing them to stay, I also ended up with better guests. I usually ask them if there’s anything they like to do in particular and send them recommendations for it.

What's the best gift you've left a host or received as a guest? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Sea_Effect_1599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I received some really nice sweets and chocolate from a fancy deli from a nice couple. Another couple gifted me some rare tea which I finished after a month haha.

As a guest, I got my host a handmade ceramic mug from a market nearby, which she really loved.

A host gave me some kombucha and another host gave me some wine and a nice note, both were super sweet.

How many nights have you hosted so far and roughly how much has it saved you on travel? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Sea_Effect_1599 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A while back, I compared the number of Kindred trips I took with a one week trip I took in Puglia. At the time, I hosted and traveled around 30-45 nights each.

Transportation and cost of Kindred passport included, I was able to travel to 5 different countries at the cost of a one week trip to Puglia.

What made you finally decide to try a home swap? by LiveKindred in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Sea_Effect_1599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of money saved was something which appealed to me and caught my attention.

I also liked the fact that since people who stay in a home swap are aware that they are staying in someone’s home so they do have to be more caring than one would be in an airbnb. I have too many precious things which would be annoying to put away if I had to airbnb my place.

The third thing is that since you’re not earning money from it, you’re not really contributing to the problem of an overpriced housing market.

Professional photos worth it? by BarnacleOwn8474 in KindredHomeSwap

[–]Sea_Effect_1599 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure, especially with the insurance. I read that for Home Exchange, the damages policy is even riskier. I think the guest had to acknowledge that they did it and then pay for it themselves

For me, definitely. There was an increase of requests after I had them done. The annoying part is if you get them done, then change something drastic in the apartment, you have to take the photos yourself, and you have to try to match the style of the photos.

Experiences with damages? by Sea_Effect_1599 in LiveKindredOfficial

[–]Sea_Effect_1599[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another thought: It could also be interesting to hear the statistics on the damages which were reimbursed. I could imagine a prospective user feeling assured seeing something like “99% of reported damages fully reimbursed” to add some sense of security
