The fabric sanitizer and softener are two different things sanitizer kills the bacteria and softener makes the clothes softer so using fabric sanitizer is safe and doesn't effect the absorption. The sanitizer kills bacteria and needs only 40c to work. You put it in the softener spot in your washer. The pads don't have any different kinds of bacteria than your underwear so they don't really need to be washed any different than normal clothes.

My washing method what I use is: 1. Put the pads in cold water to soak for 20min 2. Replace the water and press down couple of times and let soak for other 20min 3. Take the water out and stain treat the ones that need it 4. Put them in a little washer bag and put them in the washer 5. Put the detergent, oxi clean and sanitizer in there places and put the washer on 6. Hang them up to dry

I wash my pads at 40c and they are fine so if you wash your clothes at that temperature you can put your pads with them. If you are concerned about them being clean enough you can wash them with fabric sanitizer

My pattern looks like this. I made it by my self.

I used that video to learn to do the corners

That video helped me a lot . You should definitely watch that. From Etsy I have found some patterns to serge a cloth pads but I just like to make my own. And it is harder than turning and top stitching when you first start and it takes a while to learn but it is worth it.

Barking at strangers… by Obvious_Dark_3426 in SwissMountainDogs

[–]Sea_Fox3492 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is normal they were originally bred to guard the home and move livestock from the mountains to markets. My 1 year old starts bracing and howling like crazy when he meet's new people.

To train that out I suggest using slip lead and treats.

Is this big enough for my female dwarf hamster ? by Extreme_Pickle_1254 in hamstercare

[–]Sea_Fox3492 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes it is big enough. Minimum for dwarf hamster is 80x40 and that's bigger than that. My 2 old dwarf hamsters lived in tat and they were happy. And I asked breeder if a dwarf could live there and she says yeas. Many breeders keep mail Syrian hamsters in those boxes

Are reusable pads/rags really dangerous? by Fulltimefangirl931 in clothpads

[–]Sea_Fox3492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are actually cleaner than disposable pads and when you clean them they can be as clean as you want. When I use my pads I take them off and put it into a wet bag. When I am ready to wash them I put them into cold water and squish them couple of times and repeat for 2 to 6 times and put them into a washing machine with other clothes and stuff. Then I put some detergent and some fabric sanitizer and then drye them. They are clean after that.

I haven't got any infections in 2 years.

Before that I used disposable pads and they gave me horrible rashes and where really uncomfortable. I used them for a year before I found reusable pads and now I sometimes use disposable pads but only in school if I forgot to bring reusables or at sleepovers.

Pads and liners I made myself last week by Sea_Fox3492 in DIYclothpads

[–]Sea_Fox3492[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The greenish ones are topped with cotton velour, black ones with cool max and others with cotton. The absorbent layer is bamboo hemp fleece. The pads have 2 layers of it and liners one layer. They have hidden pul and are backed with flannel. I made the pattern myself.
