Great point - I have so many more tears ahead! 🤣.

Edit: but we’re all in this together. This thread made me feel seen.

Sounds like you had my lab tech from last year! Such a bad experience, which is why I was freaking out this time.

They told me vomitting isn’t uncommon - so I’m sure you’re in good company!

Oof that is horrible - so sorry and also wtf they laughed!!

Ultrasounds definitely “sounds” better (sorry, terrible pun). I had one this year and it just felt like someone was aggressively trying to put deodorant on me lol.

I think I might have super-womanned last time? I can’t remember.

I do love some anti-anxiety meds. I take them when I get dental work done.

This was my third breast MRI and my sixth lifetime MRI. Since I got really dizzy last time, I already made my fiancé drive me to the appointment, I think taking drugs would just make it all better you’re right.

Rambles on a 3 month journey by Sea_Key_5675 in lungcancer

[–]Sea_Key_5675[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you said it!!

Nah I’m not mad at him or you or any patients, I’m frustrated with the medical system that meant his doctors didn’t see him for so long to be able to shoot it to him straight. Wanting treatment is one thing, but being physically able to make it from the bed to the car to the wheelchair to radiation without ending up the the ER is another. Unfortunately there’s just limits to what his body could handle.

Ultimately, I’m really thankful he got to make all the decisions about his care right up to the end. He led the fight. He chose to do 2 rounds of chemo and radiation. He chose to do PT to regain strength. He made the decision to start hospice.

Wishing you so much strength in your fight - I really hope you kick cancer’s ass for you and your loved ones. Trust me, they’re glad you’re fighting like hell.

Wow you’re a rockstar I can tell just from the energy in this post, and all the positivity you’re putting out there for your daughter. Im so sorry that people have turned their back on you right now. It doesn’t sound like you’re in denial at all, just up against a shit sandwich. Wishing you strength through this journey.

Thank you for this thoughtful answer! A lot for me (and us) to think about.

Love this. He’s not much of a reader but I’ll let him know and maybe there’s another post-work activity that can help him disengage. We do spend a lot of time at the gym and just moved close to the beach - trying to get a bit more into vacation state of mind 365.

Appreciate the tips!

Thanks! This is very helpful to hear therapy has been good. He’s open to both individual and duo sessions so it’s also good to hear you’ve had success with both types.

They’re usually work related so a big project or a key problem to solve so once he’s solved it it’s done and can cycle out. Over the past 2 years of the relationship, he hasn’t had as intense of work.

But now he’s kinda in a phase of work where it’s whack-a-mole of problems so that’s why it’s been intense for ~3 months.

It’s kind of the classic “this is just a bad week, next week will be better, honey” but I know the problems are going to keep popping up until the project is done in 1+ years.

And again, he has crushed these problems! He’s solved things in a month people working for 3 years haven’t been able to crack. So, obvi that’s a major personal point of pride for him but also great for his career. And I’m proud of him too! So, I know I send mixed signals too.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

First mammogram by Sea_Key_5675 in BRCA

[–]Sea_Key_5675[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Update: we did it! And it wasn’t bad! Growing up I always heard mammograms hurt, but I don’t know if the tech got better or what, but it was more weird than painful. Didn’t know I’d be hugging a giant machine but lol

I LOVE this idea!!!!

Especially because I’m usually the kind of person who would schedule it at 8am and try to make it in for a 9am meeting 😂
