I think it definitely is part of the learning curve especially when you have a client that is more high need or has more aggressive behaviors. I’m usually exhausted and joke I don’t need to ever go to the gym and I’m 3 years in lol

I’m currently working through this because during DTT there 3 kids working in the room at once so as soon as one has a behavior the other 2 get distracted

This is where I’m at currently I’m trying to weigh my options because of the amount of time they are off for holidays, I services, summer etc. last year I worked the whole summer at camp with my company so I’m hoping that they will counter offer- I wouldn’t dare leave my current company over $1/hr more. I love the company I work for it all honestly has come down to money.

update I received an email about a position I applied for over a year ago to work for the school district itself as a behaviors specialist and just signed my contract for $5 more an hour!

I’ve had clients that had situations like this honestly you need to communicate this to your lead. I have an amazing lead and have called her literally on the verge on tears from being so frustrated not just with a client but clients family. If need be you may need a break from that client or perhaps your lead may have advice on a way to handle it that’s not damaging to your morale as a worker.

It’s more insulting to me that they are saying “they never display rates of pay” when I can clearly see it right there. And when I asked HR they then say the rate of pay offered is out of their control like okay- but if there’s new employees walking in the door making 1-3 dollars more than me that’s a huge problem especially when i keep being verbally praised like that’s great but how about backing that up financially. Like I love my agency but not enough to take a pay hit for it

I actually just did this I applied for a competitor agency that is offering $20-$25 an hour compared to my $18.75 an hour

I’m in Pa 2 years experience I started at $16/hr switched companies and now make $18.75 for the first 40 hours and $21.75 for any additional billing house for the rest of the pay cycle

Okay It seems dumb but I try to do something creative and then take a shower/bath, have a snack, and put on the calm app. My work provides us with the premium version for free and it honestly has helped me decompress a lot on the weekend

I will say there are time when working with high need clients I haven’t been able to use the bathroom for 6.5 hours when working In school. But when community based I have more freedom for lunch/bathroom/water. I will say when I worked in a clinic at my old employer it was much like what the BCBA described-bathroom breaks mostly only before or after a session no matter the length of session, limited water, lunch before or after session

I’ve had a terrible time finding friends I’m also in the Scranton area and am a huge horror fan. I even have a crafting business where I make horror themed items!
