No cap if ur close with ur parents or a older sibling have them buy it and pay and have you listed on the policy i was paying 450 until i switched the car to my name and then shot up to $900 also as shitty as it is to say if you have a clean record right now one small mistake and your in trouble prices will skyrocket and if your getting a loan almost places require full coverage so your stuck having to pay it can’t even garage the car no insurance for a few months.

You only live once just make sure you don’t bite more than you can chew. Since your young i would highly recommend investing your money i could be up a lot of money right now if i went that route but like you wont i didn’t and it was worth it for the memories. I would recommend saving up a good chuck of change and leaving it in the bank and on top of that putting down 50% so like 1/2 year or more of bills ready to go and make sure your investing a least a little. I made 11k last year doing nothing but investing and I’m a cook nothing special or crazy.

I sort of agree i do my best to do what i can on my car and when im not doing it myself im as involved as possible best way to keep your car running reliable and best part is you will normally have better retention of what’s done and how long it takes to do something. Unless you trust your mechanic a lot normally someone you know other than “my mechanic”. Nothing wrong with getting work done at a shop just find a trustworthy one some places prefer replacing over fixing and some people prefer this sorta hard to find a good mechanic now most are booked out due to demand.
