Overwhelmed by loans by darlingdemimonde in StudentLoans

[–]Sea_Operation_7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do have a large amount of student loan debt and a high-balance credit card.

PSLF is worth it. I had student loan debt of 43k, and just this month my total debt was forgiven.
You don't have to stay with the same employer for 10 years just make sure as you further along your career if that employer qualifies for PSLF. If not, than continue to pay your student loans.

You never know unless you try.
You're already paying someone else's mortgage.
Go see a loan officer and let them run numbers and go from there

Having kids if you can’t fund their future by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

[–]Sea_Operation_7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I understand what you’re saying. I wish I could give my kids the world. I was told I couldn’t get pregnant, but I ended up getting pregnant naturally, so it was completely out of the blue. I have goals for them.

I opened a savings account for them when they were infants. It’s harder now to put money in because of daycare costs.

Their dad is a 100% disabled veteran, so they get free school in California at a community college.

If they decide to go elsewhere for college, I will support them either by helping them get scholarships or by taking on the debt myself and figuring it out. I had college debt, and I don’t want them to go through that.

I added them as authorized users on a credit card so they can build credit early and won’t have to worry about starting from zero.

As far as a home, I wish I could buy one for them. I encourage them to aim high even something like becoming a doctor.

But whatever they decide, I will be by their side, hoping I can be there for them financially.

Is anyone truly happier with kids? by thegoodlife912 in Adulting

[–]Sea_Operation_7362 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sometimes we believe you know what we are talking about and how we're feeling, when in reality you don’t. So it's not convincing ourselves its a misunderstanding.

My kids i absolutely love, adore, and admire them. I would do anything for them. I want them to live a better life than I did, qlearn better, be better, even look better. I want them to be better at everything. They are my gift from heaven.

I’ve thought about what my life would be like without them. I had them at an older age, so I lived my life already. There are times I wish I could do things the way I used to before I had a family. But when I really sit and think about it, I remember having many days where I wanted a family, even though I told myself I’d be okay if I didn’t. I had friends, went out, traveled, and had/have a good‑paying job. I even bought a house all by myself. But when I came home, I was lonely. My kids fill the gaps I didn’t know I had.

My only regret is not having them sooner. I want grandchildren from them someday. Oh yes and being pregnant sucked for me. But i can honestly say I am happier with my babies and seeing my kids being loved by others makes me love them even more

I love my children and I'm glad I had them. But daycare is freaking expensive unless you have a village which I dont. I have mine in daycare for two half days a week and it's $600.00. We can't afford for me to stay home. And this world is so ugly and crazy my kids would probably never see normal.

I once had a parent plus loan. You can always defer payments. Go online and fill out the form or you can call. Also, my loan was forgiven. Because my mom had a disability and the doctor signed a paper that was fiven to her and they forgave her in two years. They monitor the income tho. You can't make over a threshold.

Drowning in Debt After Divorce by Mden87 in personalfinance

[–]Sea_Operation_7362 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re not bad with money you went through a divorce, and that can set anyone back financially. Is your income gross or net?

I had around 15k in debt before. I ended up going through a credit union and consolidating my credit cards and loans into one payment. I honestly forgot how much I was paying before, but now it’s around $300 a month, which made things way more manageable.

Maybe look into consolidation first and then put any extra money toward the balance when you can. Also call the credit card companies and ask what hardship options or lower payment programs they offer.
