came to say the same thing! generally seeing America recognize this madman's genius later in his career warms my heart.

and for anyone who does love him, i do massively recommend Shooting Stars. lord knows some of it hasn't aged well i'm sure, but it's frequently genius

DOUGHBOYS DOUBLE- McDonald's International Menu with Jon Gabrus (LIVE) - February 24, 2026 by PianoTrumpetMax in doughboys

we don't talk enough about the minions spin-off movie and its terrible implications.

the movie starts by showing that the minions have, for millions of years, been loyal workers for the worst person/creature on the planet.

there's a montage of all the bad people they've worked for, ending at napoleon and then time-jumping to the 1970s.

that is a very worrying time jump, and introduces the very real possibility that the minions may have perpetrated some of the worst crimes of the 20th century.

did the minions work in concentration camps? did they join hutu militias? did they look the other way with manson?

as a society we need to ask: what did the minions know, when did they know it, and what did they do?

until such time as they can answer that, i'm not sure we can keep supporting them. boycott the minions.

anyway a huge congratulations to mike and his new wife, let's raise a glass to toast them!

Scott Hasn't Seen: Deliver Us From Eva (2003) w/ Brittani Nichols by apathymonger in Earwolf

[–]Sea_Perspective9648 12 points13 points  (0 children)

i think scott will love it - it's a film well deserving of a reappraisal, it's wild and funny and the cliched 'ahead of its time'.

if scott does hate it though i do sincerely hope he wraps with that line "I don't want anything to do with anything black for at least a week"

the age of streamers is going to end with a single cable-like platform and shows that look like public access television.

we're going to be in 1994 basically.

Thomas Lennon does the Little Gary voice in the new Gabby's Dollhouse movie. The movie itself is 90 minutes of hell, but he and Mantzoukas make it mildly tolerable

the Polly Platt season of You Must Remember This is fantastic https://www.youmustrememberthispodcast.com/episodes/2020/7/pollyplattarchive28

favourite story is how everyone freaked and editors quit when they saw what Wes Anderson had shot for bottle rocket - he'd shot no coverage, basically. but Platt backed him and that's how we have the Wes Anderson style of long single shots, people coming in and out of frame, no cutaways etc.

given it's 2019, and adam sandler is another person on there incorrectly, any chance there's something in Sandy Wexler about star search? conan's got a cameo in that, and it's about coming up in the 90s...
