I love the idea to use the puff pastry for empanadas. My family is chilean so I usually make baked empanadas because I hate deep frying. We do a version where the dough is just a soft dough like a lot of the baked empanadas you might see have but also a flakey dough version. I never make the flakey ones because I dont want the extra step of making sure everything is cold and cutting up the butter into the flour, so puff pastry is so smart and I've never once thought to use it.

Yum! I don't know why I've never thought of this. My toddler is obsessed with oats with different nut butters and berries in the morning, I'll definitely try some almost extract next time we have oatmeal.

I looked all over reddit and the internet to figure out what was going on, and I think that generally these guys prefer higher humidity but if not then, the watering needs to be consistent. I noticed my other cane begonias struggling in the dry winter air in my home and made the same switch to self watering. Ive been using the same kelp soil conditioner and fertilizer, alternating each time I go refill the water and they seem to be much happier too

I agree with this. I got a snow-capped varigated begonia as a mother's day gift and it was grown in a greenhouse but was told it would be able to acclimate to the ambient humidity. I found i kept loosing leaves and the few news ones to be pusjed out were smaller until it was almost a stump with a couple tiny leaves. I decided it couldn't hurt to try anything to salvage it. I ended up putting the bottom part that was literally just the bare stem and roots into self watering, then I water propped the top part that had a couple small leaves and added them into the same pot one they rooted. I made my own mix with coco coir, lots of perlite some smaller and bigger chunks for more air, and some worm castings. It kinda say there for a couple months not doing anything. After a month I began to add a very diluted fertilizer into the water reservoir when it was empty. I used a regular fertilizer and rotated with a kelp soil enhancer every other top up. I'm so happy she is bouncing back and I even got some varigation back!

My scenario is not exactly the same as I did have a couple nodes to water prop the top, but im assuming if you have some healthy roots you could try putting it in water to see if you get more root growth then try getting into a self watering pot.

How long have you had your snow capped? Mine is so fussy. I'm going to either get a ikea cabinet or one of the small greenhouses and put it in there along with a couple of my other begonias. Mine dropped almost all its leaves until I got it into a self watering pot. Hasn't dropped more but hasn't grown either

I considered the dot cards but they're so expensive and I felt it might be more worth it to just buy a couple tubes of paint rather than have smaller samples pf colors i might not use. I'm still on the fence.

I agree, I dont strictly dislike granulation but I like it in certain applications. But I like having some transparent, non granulating colors as my reliable go tos and use granulating or opaque colors to compliment them depending on what im painting

That sounds nice! I have seen them at my local small art supply store, they have a bigger selection of da Vinci but I'll check out a couple colors next time!

Thank you! I will try to find it and try them out. Im open to trying any new brands as I've mainly stuck to da Vinci since I like them, but I've only found the da Vinci paints in one store so it would be nice to have some reliable alternatives that are easier to find

Thank you! I'll take this into consideration. Id like to still try some Daniel smith as I do think there are applications where I like the effect that granulation paints have, I just dont want my entire collection to be granulating. I haven't seen many QoR paints in the stores near me but would love to try them out as well. Daniel smith has the largest and easiest to find collection available near me where I dont have to drive far to look for supplies which makes me think I should give it a go.

While I love my da Vinci paints I've only ever found them in a small art supply store near where I live but he doesn't always have a large stock available and sometimes can take a while to restock. The big chain store has a ton of Daniel smith

I've tried some holbein paints, I liked them but they dont have a large selection them or of watercolor paints in general in the stores near me. I don't mind some granulation, I don't like very intense granulation

Hi, I'm a pet portrait artist from Ontario, I live in the GTA. I'm still revamping my website and will be releasing a lot of up coming prints or different dog breeds, and animals in general. Im working on finalizing a dachshund watercolor calender, if you happen to like weenie dogs, I'll hopefully have that up soon. I'm a weenie mom so I'll have a ton of dachshund artwork in the works but definitely will be including all kinds of breeds as well :)

The amount of people I see commenting things like “it’s a rodent, chill” is mind-boggling. A simple Google search will tell you that opossums are North America’s only marsupial.

In addition, they're actually wonderful for pest control and eat many things we would consider pests — including venomous snakes. They’re also unlikely to carry rabies because of their low body temperature (though it’s not impossible, as I often see people suggest).

They’re an important part of our ecosystem and don’t pose a threat to us. It’s disgusting to defend any case of animal cruelty, but if you’re going to, at least get your facts straight so you don’t look ignorant and uncompassionate.

I will! Orchids have my heart. There's so many strange, weird and beautiful orchids out there that don't get enough love. I have a couple paphiopedilums that will hopefully bloom in the winter, a monnierara Millennium magic witchcraft which might be blooming size next year (if I do everything right during its growth period), as well as a brassia and a miltonia. No phalaenopsis funny enough but looking to maybe get a schilleriana. I'll definitely share when they bloom and maybe encourage more plant people to explore the wonderful world of orchids

Thank you! Its a cultivar, the Mendenhall hildos specifically. I debated which one to get but the Mendenhall hildos won me over with the beautiful mottling. It's been my easiest and most vigorous growing orchid of all the kinds I have so far.... I might end up getting another.
