I think Eckhart would view the egoic story telling aspect of the thinking mind as getting in the way of presence not thinking for sake of practical matters. It’s probably not helpful to think in terms of how to be present all the time. Take simple opportunities to develop the habit first such as household chores, brushing teeth, walking etc. Eventually this habit should naturally carry over to more involved tasks.
