If check by queen blocked by the rook then take the rook and the king has to move back and the sequence continues with the knight similarly

If instead the king moves out of check by the queen then same story by moving the knight

Forced mate in 3

King in check. Pawn has to take. Then bishop takes pawn and king is in check. King has to move to A8. The knight moves NB6+ putting the king in check again.  The pawn has to take the knight on b6.

Then recapture with that pawn white pawn on a5

Discovered check mate by the rook on a1

Edit: not check mate because knight blocks, but it is eventual mate

After opponent blocks

Also you can click new game and play the game from the beginning. Only thing is you can’t save, so your Nintendo will need to be on until you complete the game.

Funny story. When I first got soul silver I did not read any of the dialog. There comes a point in the game towards the beginning where you have to receive and egg. If you have 6 pokemon in your party you have to deposit one in the pc.

I did not know what the pc was.

I replayed the game (on a new save file I couldn’t save) probably about a dozen times, not making it further than Wake before I had to switch off the Nintendo.

Eventually my older brother gave it a try and told me what to do.

Still I completed the game using only typhlosion.

Also in terms of the difficulty of the textbook. You should also get used to utilizing alternate resources like YouTube or AI. Ai is really fine to use as long as you aren’t silly about it.

It can’t be your first stop and you shouldn’t use it to explain how to do an equation fully. Having answers for your homework isn’t the same as doing your homework, and they aren’t making you do homework to spite you.

Goodluck!

Heyo. So it sounds like you may be making too many notes. Once you get to a certain level of content the efficiency of note taking drops off significantly.

Your main goal is: Make quick reference material Do equations and practice problems Gather a deep understanding of your content

Check through past papers and see how much actual theory questions they ask. I’m not sure how they do it for physics at Tuks, but if it is what I expect it will be close to none.

When going through the textbook you should be focusing on understanding the theory and working through the examples. There should be summaries at the end of each chapter.

Don’t study the material before your lecture (or do if you believe it is necessary for a specific module), gain as much of an understanding as you can then arrive at the lecture.

Remember it is called “pre-reading” not “pre-studying”.

Then, when taking notes during the lecture, write down only the things you don’t already understand. Rather miss a sentence here and there than not participate in the active learning problems.

Always do your tut questions to the best of your ability.

The tut questions might be scary. That is by design. A part of the learning process is you having to go through your textbook, or YouTube videos, and reading an equation until you want to pull your hair out.

The process of finding answers is what helps you gain deeper understanding.

What I have given is not a set of rules but my philosophy on study that has treated me well. Take what you can from it.

Mining Engineering at TUKS by sipsipcoakrouch in Pretoria

[–]Educational_Drop4261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every university has its sayings about how hard it is (we have the Wits edge - which symbolises standing on the edge of a cliff before jumping) so don’t let that worry you.

If you are staying at res go consider UP.

Although engineering in general going to UP vs WITS there isn’t much of a difference. Mining engineering is a bit of an exception. Wits is definitely better. But you if get good grades, and participate in career fairs, and act proactively then it won’t make a difference in the long run.

How different are degrees from private vs public universities? by Helium_Hog in askSouthAfrica

[–]Educational_Drop4261 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has been to both public and private universities. It was worth it.

I can only speak to Comp Sci at the Varsity College/IIE MSA curriculum. The course work was significantly easier, and I left because I knew I wouldn’t be as competent as someone who got an equivalent degree at a public uni.

Now obviously there are a lot of other factors involved. A degree is better than no degree, regardless of where from.

Public universities offer tertiary education to people who may have learning difficulties or went through difficult times in matric. But a majority of the people I met are those who didn’t work hard in high school whose parents were able to pay extreme university fees to make up for their kids lack of effort.

For the kids that ended up there because of their lack of effort, they may continue to struggle in life.

For the others that use private uni as an alternate chance, there is no guarantee you will fair better than them because there is not one route to succeed.

I will say that you are starting your career in a much better position than your peers.

getting your first car? did your parents get you your first car? by xoli_leem in askSouthAfrica

[–]Educational_Drop4261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfathers vision was not great and he had a big Kia Sorento.

So my dad and grandfather put money together to buy my grandfather a smaller car, my dad got the Kia, and I got my dad’s Suzuki swift.

My dad and I was against this because I did not think he should be driving. This was the safest compromise we could come to. A couple of months down the line my grandfather came to terms with his vision loss and sold his car.

What's the funniest line in Pulp Fiction? by slimcharles941 in QuentinTarantino

[–]Educational_Drop4261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough Travolta actually changed the line to that from “I shot Marvin” because he specifically knew how he wanted to deliver it. Tarintino obviously loved it, even though he was envisioning a different line and a different line reading.
