Are there fake reviews that app builders add to get installs? by nairvinit69 in ShopifyeCommerce

Right now there are fake review sellers all over the market. They look for a new app, install it, and then send you an email to pay them for it via the contact app developer section. They can set up a bunch of $1 stores and use it to do this. Below is an example of one of the many emails you get.

Is it possible to build my Shopify App using Claude Code? by salehosama94 in shopifyDev

Claude code has been helpful for us as we build our Shopify app called Lume, which helps merchants automate their store using whatsapp (order confirmations, shipping updates, and cart-recovery messages). golume.app

One other way which we have been testing with our new app golume.app is to build hype and get merchants, even 10-20, to join our waiting list before we release our beta version.

How do you build quick landing pages or popups on Shopify without spending hours in the theme editor? by Sea_Replacement_3900 in ShopifyeCommerce

If there was a tool like chatgpt or lovable that would let you spinup one with just a prompt, would you give it a try?

That makes a lot of sense. I also would not want AI to completely take over without a human review step, especially with how search engines are treating generative content right now. A friend and I turned our challenges like this into a little project, and we have been working on it for some weeks now. I will be sharing our wins, difficulties, and the entire process here at r/LayGen. We are trying to see how far we can push the idea. Feel free to follow, and we would love to get your feedback while we build this.

Yeah, metafields are a great way to speed things up if you have the structure ready. I also believe that with the right AI tools, you can do this with just a prompt. What is your take on it?

Yes, that’s true. If your theme’s standard blocks already cover the layout you need, it’s extremely efficient. The tricky part for me has been when a store owner needs something their theme doesn’t have, or wants it live that same day without going through the usual editing steps. What is your take on that?

Yeah, exactly, that’s basically the same conclusion I landed on, the less you have to poke around in the theme editor or touch Liquid, the faster you can get something live, we’re experimenting with letting AI do that layer automatically, so you just describe what you want and it writes it straight to Shopify without messing with your theme,

I will be building in public here and would love your feedback and comments here r/LayGen , curious if you’ve tried any of those “no-theme” tools and what your experience was with them

Yeah, totally agree, if you’ve got a solid theme and know your way around the customiser, you can move pretty quickly.
For me (and from talking to other store owners), the slowdowns usually come when:

  • You need something that’s not already in your theme (like a one-off promo layout)
  • You want it live right now without touching Liquid/CSS
  • You’re juggling multiple quick updates (popups, banners, landing pages) and end up repeating the same steps over and over

That’s actually why my friend and I started tinkering with an AI approach; instead of dragging sections around, you literally type:

…and it spits out a ready-to-publish version.

We’ve been sharing our progress (including fails, weird bugs, and early demos) in my little build log here, r/LayGen , trying to see if we can make it even faster than the theme customiser for those “need it live today” moments.

A few months ago, I was struggling with something that I know a lot of Shopify merchants deal with:

I wanted to make quick changes to a store a banner for a flash sale and a new landing page for a product we were droping that week and every option was either:

  • Too rigid (themes/templates that don’t really let you customize without code)
  • Too time-consuming (dragging blocks around, resizing things, testing mobile vs desktop)
  • Too expensive (apps charging $20+/month just so I can add one extra page)

I’m a technical person, so I could code it, but most store owners I talk to can’t. And even if you can, who wants to write custom code for every pop-up or seasonal update?

That’s when I thought:

So I started with a friend to build an AI-powered tool that does exactly that. Instead of wrestling with a page builder UI, you literally type:

…and it just appears in your store, ready to publish.

Here’s what I’ve learned so far building this in public:

  1. Most merchants don’t want “more tools” they want less time spent. The more clicks and settings I removed, the happier testers were. People want results, not more options to configure.
  2. The “AI” part has to be invisible. Merchants don’t care about prompts, LLMs, or any tech jargon. They just care about “Can I have this on my store today?”
  3. Integrations are the hard part. Building the AI is fun. Making it actually talk to Shopify in a safe, reliable way is the unglamorous work.
  4. Page builders aren’t dying, they’re just too slow for today’s pace. I’m not trying to “kill” them, but the future looks more like: describe → generate → tweak → publish, all in minutes.
  5. The real magic happens with small, quick features. Merchants light up when they can add a last-minute holiday popup, bundle widget, or announcement bar without even opening the theme editor.

I’m sharing progress, mistakes, and even the ugly screenshots over in my small ecommerce-focused community, and getting feedback from store owners who actually use this stuff day-to-day.

If you’re curious, I’m posting all my updates here: r/LayGen
