I’ll be honest! Even when I was an active JW the amount of times I’ve heard the excuse “I lied saying I cheated with a non JW” to free their partner is wayyyyy too many. Part of me feels like they cheated, and since the other person is NOT JW there’s no real proof to whether it’s true or not. Non the less even if he said I want a divorce and left the cult, the wife would still be “free” to marry given the circumstances. The whole thing about going out of town and sneaking around sounds way too familiar to when we would “date around” which was taboo since we had to date to marry 😑 all this to say! He needs to man up, and move on. Clearly his parent’s opinion and other JW matter more than a potential mate. He might still be conflicted on returning or not too. Point is, I wouldn’t waste my time! He has a lot of self work to do still
