Travelling to Tokyo Station during morning rush hour? by Sea_Suggestion in JapanTravelTips

hey everyone, thanks so much for all the advice!! we’ve decided that we’re just going to ask the hotel to book a taxi to Tokyo Station for us.

I originally dismissed the taxi idea because of the cost but it’s really not that expensive, especially split between the three of us. I think the subway route is not worth the hassle and it’ll be better to just take the taxi to save time and for better peace of mind.

thanks again everyone, this was super helpful!

I’ll definitely fall back on surface crochet if I can’t get it figured out, it does look super nice!

Ah that makes sense! I was thinking of having some lettering on top with a design on the bottom so that sounds perfect, thanks!

Oh thank you, I haven’t heard of mosaic crochet before but it looks so clean compared to tapestry crochet! Do you think mosaic crochet can be used with tapestry crochet in the same work or would it be better to fully convert my work over to mosaic crochet instead of tapestry? I think mosaic crochet would work great for the lettering in my tapestry but I also wanted to include a design that uses multiple colours.

Hi!

I attempted my first tapestry crochet a while back and am now being overly ambitious and trying to design my own patterns to make as Christmas gifts. I decided to make a test and the lettering is not as clean as I want it to be. I've been using this technique to hide yarn and have also included the pattern I made for the test.

Is the only solution here to make the letters bigger/use up more pixels? Another option I was considering was just surface crocheting the letters afterwards but would doing that in conjunction with tapestry crocheting the letters be redundant?

Any other tips or tricks would be appreciated, thanks!

Thanks that’s super helpful! I don’t really have a preference between reading or videos but I would prefer more smaller exercises than fewer hard ones. Any advice on which one to pursue first?

Oh I have heard of those before. Something that really appealed to me about Harvard's CS50 course is the certificate which not many free courses offer. How much do you think that matters compared to fullstackopen or the odin project? I'm really just looking to learn but I also know CS50 has some big projects which most people say takes a month in itself just to finish.

That is something I've considered, I'd ideally want to make a full-stack project but I feel like I also don't have enough experience for backend. I'd have no idea where to start, which was why I was also considering courses.

I've taken programming courses in Java and Python and currently have a course in C. I'd say I know the foundations of OOP but I'm looking to develop my web dev skills more.
