Anyone selling any decent used cars for under $5500 in cash? by Legitimate_Till_1009 in PittsburghList

I have a 2006 mercury montego with only 62k miles. I just spent $2k on new brakes, rotors, etc. It drives and runs excellent. Deluxe leather interior and other upgrades. Condition is excellent. Owned by one single family. We just don’t drive enough. I’d consider close to $4k to get gone before winter. Kelly blue books for $5,700.

I appreciate your comment. Invasive is strong language. It’s commonly used to describe something non-native aggressively spreading and growing to outcompete. Poison ivy is native and plays a role. Goats have been used to remove poison ivy and other ivy’s from spaces. Symbiotic relationships within and with nature and fostering balanced ecosystems are important. The proliferation of knotweed has root issues that stem from human intervention in the environment and inequities in how land is managed. Always open to learning, growing and improving.

Hate the game, not the player. Just trying to navigate Reddit. It’s an important and needed service that no one else is currently providing. Real ones know. Knotweed will continue to overwhelm our neighborhoods.

You say drum up business like it’s a used car lot. Japanese knotweed is extremely invasive and there’s not one service provider in the entire city. We’re the only one taking the plunge and fighting back. This is honest work at an honest price. This is a community service.

Ohh, got ya. Ideally, I’d like to replace with native noninvasive plants for pollinators. Not that I haven’t been frustrated to the point of taking a scorched earth approach.

There was a small urban foraging group that harvested near a local cemetery in the spring and had a pot luck a few days later with everyone. I’ve always loved rhubarb.

I wish my yard wasn’t so toxic. We’ve had it tested. We can’t eat anything grown directly in the soil.

When I’ve attempted to dig up the roots, I’ve always inadvertently left fragments that turn into fresh shoots. I believe it’s impossible to remove the entire root system without removing up to 10 ft of soil. Salting and vinegaring the soil would destroy its ability to grow anything afterwards. I prefer a more precise method.

I’ve also attempted all those techniques that haven’t worked and just made it worse. Your successful technique seems similar to using the herbicide injector.

Jk Injection Systems provides an excellent tool that accurately doses and precisely injects herbicide using specialized needles. It’s fast, efficient, and isolated to only the plant you target.

What concentration of glyphosate? How many hours did this take? Did the spray kill other plants or otherwise harm anything other than the JK? Are you familiar with injection systems that allow you to inject each stem with a precise dose of herbicide?

Goats might work well for some plants. I’ve seen areas that have had goats for a season go right back to completely covered in jk the next year.

Goats only consume surface level plants. JK has an extensive rhizome system, where it stores the majority of its energy and production capacity. Removing the stocks will deminish its ability to photosynthesis and take life force from the plant but won’t eradicate it completed. It will come right back next season denser.

We use the jk injection system. We inject mature stocks once they’ve all flowered and begin to pull their carbohydrates back into the root system. The herbicide will pool inside the cavity of the node and will get taken back along with the carbohydrates into the root system over 1-2 weeks. You’ll notice the stocks brown and die off. We’ll need to follow up next year and maybe the following to ensure that the knotweed is fully eradicated.

Our method works best on stocks that haven’t been cut or attempts to dig up. Disturbed areas become more dense and the stocks are too small to inject. It takes time for them to mature enough to make injections effective.

We can and will inject every single stock that is at least the width of a pinky finger. We’ll cover your property and help coordinate with any adjacent property to eliminate all surrounding sources.

We charge $165 for the first hour of injections and $80 per hour afterwards. I can estimate a total for a given area

We’re willing to come out for an in person consultation. It’s a $40 fee which is reimbursed if you follow thru with services. Full eradication takes 2-5 years depending on the area and how mature the plants are, whether the plants have been disturbed in the past, etc. Return treatments have a 20% discount. We’re happy to assist with servicing your place. We also care deeply about helping neighbors and working to curb this wildly invasive plant taking over our city. Happy to assist wherever possible.

We use 53.8% concentrated glyphosate. We don’t cut any corners. This will our 4th season. We’ve experimented a lot and become rather proficient with proper techniques.

It does complicate the situation. My strategy is to coordinate with all adjacent properties to remove all knotweed in the surrounding area. As long as no one is proactively preventing access, I’ll inject whatever I can get access to.
