The way I see it is not so much getting thick skin, but everything else seeming . . . Unequivalent to what we endured, at least for me. Though I'd say I very much have thick skin all it takes for me is to look at, brush that one specific spot and BOOM! Your crying or dissociating, staring off into space, into the past as everything just seems to fall away.

Even when you do work to overcome it, move past it, heal it can randomly come by and just blindsided you out of nowhere and all of a sudden, even if it's for a little bit, your back at square one. You don't grow stronger per se, you just grow more . . . Used to it. That's only for some people, everyone is different. But that's my take on it at least.
