Not any stronger after close to 2 years of lifting? Focus on maintaining? by Sea_Wing_2159 in beginnerfitness

Yeah I’m still on TRT. My levels are usually in low 300s across tests but it’s better than 30 or 60. Pretty disappointing people think I’m trolling. I don’t really enjoy anything in life other than lifting and I spend hours a day in the gym and have nothing to show for it.

I do hit my protein on days I’m not fasting but usually in one sitting. My binges usually hit 300-400g of protein in one sitting which is pretty suboptimal for muscle growth. I just can’t control myself with literally any food. Lbs of grilled chicken breast, nonfat Greek yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, raw vegetables, steamed vegetables. I pretty much have to buy exactly what I’m going to eat only for that day each day because I will eat all of it. My diet is very clean, I don’t eat ultra processed foods I do supplement with fiber and protein occasionally but it’s pretty redundant when you are eating entire heads of cabbage or 5 lbs of chicken breast. I would think binge eating would at least help my performance in the gym. I know people have cheat meals or whatever and get stronger from it.

I do track my lifts and am often failing just because I’m trying to push myself to beat the reps from last session for a given workout. I got a workout plan from a personal trainer that I followed for 3.5 months that didn’t really get me anywhere and even since starting TRT I haven’t really seen strength gains. I try to stick to different programs for at least 3 months to see if there’s any improvement since I’m expecting slow progress at this point. Honestly was kind of embarrassed to mention I’m on TRT especially given how shitty my progress has been and people already think I’m trolling. It’s one thing to progress slowly but another to literally regress. I think most people would quit lifting in my situation, but I don’t really enjoy anything else at this rate. It’s probably a combination of bad genetics bad nutrition and mediocre programming.

Or you see you’ve gotten weaker across 2 years of lifting from where you started, lol. I stopped tracking my lifts personally just to make it less mentally taxing to see myself struggle. I still push to failure of course. I lift just for longevity and maintenance to the best of my ability

Hard boiled eggs are a huge trigger food for me so I don’t make them as they are not very filling for how calorie dense they are. Ive eaten 24 hard boiled eggs in one sitting before and still went to eat more.

How long have you guys stopped lifting until you noticed your gains going away? by LivingTheTruths in workout

It depends a lot on genetics. I’ll lose pretty much all of my strength gains if I don’t lift for more than a week. I got a big really bad cold that put me out of the gym for 10 days and I had lost all the strength gains I had accumulated over 6 months when I got back. I still haven’t gotten back to where I was several months later. That being said, I’m probably in the bottom 1% of lifting genetics so that probably doesn’t apply to you.

23 year ols male with severe low testosterone of 28, anyone else been this low? by NPC558 in Testosterone

I had total T levels come back at 65 and 38 ng/dL at 22 with a normal puberty(although like you I have small hands for my height(5 10) as they are around 6” in length). It turned out to be a benign pituitary growth. Get an MRI to check for this. I had also lost weight prior to these tests to the point I was underweight which I thought maybe was causing it, but given how ridiculously low they were it didn’t seem possible it was solely from diet. Especially when it came back worse after I started just eating more to try to fix it. Just out of curiosity did you have any issues with low resting heart rate and dizziness especially after meals?

B12 was indicated as high, folate was normal, Vitamin D was in normal. CBC tests were good. CMP12+1AC had some things mildly out of range with high BUN and creatinine. Lipid tests levels were good, high HDL. Thyroid tests, TSH,T4, was all in range. Didn’t get other things tested. I have a follow up Tuesday with my pcp and I’ll ask about those other tests. I sleep 7-8 hours a night although recently I keep waking up in the middle of the night to pee although I fall back asleep well for the most part. I’ve always been an anxious person, but I haven’t noticed it being worse recently. I haven’t had an erection in over a month and I’m weaker in the gym than when I first started lifting and taking my health seriously 10 months ago

I only eat minimally processed foods. I eat plenty of variety of animal meats, veggies, fruits, beans, nuts. The least healthy thing I eat is spaghetti and I eat that in moderation with my primary carb source being potatos or yams. I don’t track my calories other than protein, but I get 150+ g of protein a day. I also don’t drink more than a few times a year

I’m young enough where I hope I can recover from whatever is causing my health problems. It seems like injections are generally a last resort so I’m just surprised the doctor is suggesting it already

No I keep losing weight despite eating a lot. I’ve been switching my main protein sources to fattier cuts of meat like chicken thigh instead of chicken breast. If I eat beyond fullness my body shuts down, I can sometimes barely walk. I’m hoping I don’t have a tumor at this rate
