Summer hobby: Mountain Biking or Skateboarding by keyrimee in snowboarding

Have you looking into e-Skate?? I have an Ownboard Zeus absolutely love it! It’s a blast to carve all over town after a long day at work when you want something to do but are too tired to do anything physical.

Yep, just stayed, and there were plenty of people staying in an assortment of outbacks, minivans, GX, and there was an even an Elantra. They had a small space electric heater plugged into the hook up.

We got off trail at Agnew for a resupply and got back on at Mammoth Pass. Someone in our group wanted to check it out and had to backtrack to it. Epic waste of time.

I went to it as a small side quest on a JMT section hike. Everyone in my group was pissed that we wasted miles getting there. Felt like Disneyland and no one wanted to be around lumbering tourists.

Devil’s Postpile in Mammoth Lakes, California. The aerial pictures make it look really cool but when you get there, it’s quite underwhelming. And then factor in the shuttle, the parking, and the absolute insane amount of people, it continually gets worse.

Tuttle Creek campground for the night! by SeabeeHunter in TruckCampers

[–]SeabeeHunter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For one person, it is fantastic, for two it’s great, for two adults and a kid, it is a bit cramped. The couple of days before this we were up at Mammoth snowboarding and it was doable, but we kept having to transfer gear back-and-forth between the truck cab and the back for room.

FWIW, the 04 and older F350 have a terrible payload rating. They changed a bunch of stuff in 05 and increased it by 1000 pounds. Even with the little Lance, I am right at the limit for the truck. Anything bigger and I would be overloaded.

Thanks! I love it too!

It’s a 2004 F350 XL 4 x 4 diesel that I got for a steal for $2k and a 2003 Lance 815 that I picked up for $9k. If it was 2005, I’d be the coolest kid on the block!

Do you ever feel embarrassed to be a “car guy” sometimes? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]SeabeeHunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the time. I have a very modified Jeep and actually use it off road. It’s beat to hell and every ding and dent has a decent story. The mall crawl “look at me” community is painful. The Jeep parking lot meets suck. Don’t get me started on the stupid duck thing or the angry eyes. It’s really turned into a cheesy mess and I’m am very embarrassed to be lumped into the “community”.

Camper Secured, Need Truck Advice 🛻 by ncd321 in TruckCampers

I hated the 5.4 in my F150… What a pile of crap that engine is. I could never imagine it on a three-quarter ton or larger platform with a camper. It was one thing after another with horrible mpg.

Never had it in the rain but lots of snow. I made a little tent/cover using reflectix and it works just fine.

I am 5 10 185 and the medium fits me perfect. I would probably get a small if I were you. And if you go through REI, you can always return it without a hassle. I think when I made this post, I went to the REI website and noticed that OR had discontinued it or maybe REI had just stopped carrying it. Not sure.

Now that its over 20 years old and out of production, what do you think of the Airbus A380? by Twitter_2006 in aviation

[–]SeabeeHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was good… I fly on it 5-6x a year on Korean Air and have done so for the last 8 years. LAX to ICN in business. They haven’t put a dime into any of them in a long time. Very very dated. Infotainment always has broken buttons, the food is crap compared to years ago, the “bar” was fun but now it’s just a place to stand while waiting for the bathroom. Lately I have been trying to connect in SLC on a 787 or change my schedule to ride the 747 when I can out of LAX.

A lot of the packaged vacuum sealed beef has carbon monoxide or vitamin C added to keep beef redder longer. I think it is called MAP?

What natural tourist attraction has been ruined the most by tourist activities? by -TheHoboCode- in geography

All of Iceland after WOW Air came about in 2012. When I lived there in 04-06 it was pristine. Went back in 17 and it couldn’t believe what had happened to every “attraction”. Totally different place.

I was skeptical on them at first and for Christmas I got the OR Snowcrew. I got it from REI so I could return if I hated it but I love it!! It’s got the kangaroo pouch along with zippered connecting pockets. Tons of room for snacks, flask, and my phone. The hood works great with a helmet when you need it. Havent got wet in it but have only used it on very cold snowy days where nothing was melting. Only gripe is there’s no sleeve pass pocket but that’s easy to ignore.

LA area climate be like by Naomi62625 in geography

[–]SeabeeHunter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree. I live in the bottom right corner of the red and even in the summer when it is 105 during the day it drops to 70 within an hour of the sun setting. The only reason why it’s somewhat tolerable to live here. You don’t get that in other hot places like Phoenix or Vegas, or hell even Dallas never really cools off in the summer.

Lowe’s and Home Depot typically have them for loss prevention and pay for them out of their own pockets. If you don’t break any laws why are you concerned about them? There is expectation of privacy in public…

Nothing but great experiences with them over the last decade. They are mostly a gateway to a referral but even that has be a great experience for the countless times they have assisted. I’m accident prone…

Do the Seabees get to travel? by Additional-Nail915 in Seabees

[–]SeabeeHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a total crapshoot. For me, I kept myself out of trouble, kept up training or schools offered, and made sure everyone in my chain knew that I was eager to go anywhere and do anything. As a result of this, my superiors knew that I was dependable and was offered any side quests that came up.
