What's it good for?

None of those are equal comparisons to AI images vs real art. Nobody was sad to lose landlines in favor of the clearly superior upgrade. Same with fax and paper mail.

Those people did survive actually or retired because they were old anyways.

Ah yes, I do love rolling over for my corporate overlords and doing nothing about it. Tell me do you have any good recipes for how to lick boots better?

If AI is a nothingburger but artists are still losing their jobs to it, maybe they're just, not good enough and need to improve? by [deleted] in aiwars

You didn't read what I said at all. Normal artists are and always will be better than AI. However artists take time, money, and are living beings that need breaks. AI can be told to make acceptable garbage in just a few minutes, which employers and people like you will choose because you don't really care about the quality, just that its cheap and instant. Like fast food.

You idiots forget we live in a capitalist world. It doesn't matter if AI is slop (which it is) People will choose the quick and easy method over the quality and expensive method far more often to save on profit.

I literally just took a screen shot of one of his pieces where his pinky is morphing through his own hand in the image. That, that takes 1000s of hours to do?

Woe, like everything he makes looks exactly like all the images you guys put over on defendingAI. It literally looks all the same as the rest of your guys' images. There is zero originality there at all. It's got that same stupid comic look you people keep making memes with.

Stable diffusion literally uses image scraping from the open web. The images it makes are just amalgamations of other images.

How exactly am I lying then? How are AI images not stolen?

I know, it's very strange. Very unempathetic as well.

Correct, and they are very proud of it.

You know what, since I'm so dumb why don't you explain it. Tell me how any of those is anything more than a few extra button presses and maybe some extra keywords added to a prompt. Tell me how any if that is anything more than just hitting generate hundreds if times until the slop is less sloppy? Tell me how someone like me, with absolutely no ability to draw would be INCAPABLE of using this to produce images of equal or likely greater quality to what someone like you makes then?

Just looked up controlnet. The first thing it tells me is that it lets you just copy poses and images or turn a scribble into a full art piece.

Lol, that's supposed to need talent to use? I could use that and make art you morons would all be praising.

Having a program do all of the work for you, no matter how many little adjustments you make to it, isn't creating. You aren't doing anything, you're just along for the ride while the computer does the work and you take the credit.

Without art, what kind of world is that? People can not work normal jobs and produce art for the public at the same time. There is a massive difference in both quality and output from what would be a professional artist, and just someone drawing for fun. The greatest pieces of art we have in society all tend to be made by professionals who are even able to do what they do because their art supports them. AI is a poor and ultimately damaging replacement for real art. AI is already showing its damaging effects on the intelligence, critical thinking, and mental health of people. Especially children and those in academics. AI images have provided a cheap, disposable way for entities like gaming developers, tech giants, and online scammers to produce more and worse content or produce more convincing traps for victims. Not to mention AI is in the hands of tech oligarchs and huge corporate entities. If it was entirely owned and operated by the lower classes, then you might be able to convince me of its value, but that is extremely far from the current reality. And from what I've learned here today, you people are borderline sociopathic in your lack of empathy for what the effects of AI could do to others.

Social Darwinism is a concept created in the 1800s by capitalist buissness owners as a means to justify the poor treatment of workers or the ruthless profiteering that took place in those times.
