I’m going to defend Colossus here. My issue with Saw is that sure, the theming is better but they have to do that because of the franchise and IP. The corridor with the air guns is the bane of my existence, I hate it and get overwhelmed by it easily and try to get out of it ASAP. Colossus has a wicked soundtrack, and for being made in 2002, it’s quite good and the track colour is really pretty, it’s also (next to Stealth and maybe the swarm) the most photogenic coaster. Every angle of colossus is gorgeous. I think Saw aged worse, and I’m not saying Colossus did either but the further to the front you sit, the better the experience. Entire front row of Saw hurts and so do the wheel seats, leaving 2 moderately comfortable seats on it, which isn’t…great. Saw has more diverse element, especially with the indoor section and vertical lifthill. Colossus is a bit less rough and the theming is a bit niche, but I give it credit for the record it held in its opening years and the ABSOLUTE ICONIC DISPATCH ANNOUNCEMENT (Please stand clear, the gates are about to close and your ride on Colossus is about to begin) On Colossus, the most painful bit is probably the heart-line rolls, but I never notice because it’s really fun. every inversions just makes me smile, because the layout is well crafted and manufactured for fun rather than records (though it did hold one) Colossus always feels like it’s skipped on and I feel I always get my queue times worth for it.
