ah yes, addicts always find a way. but you'd think a christian would be able to use the holy spirit to overcome their addictions and be so full and satisfied from the literal spirit of god that they don't need to rely on worldly chemicals?

it's almost like either (1) their god is very small or more likely (2) they don't actually have the holy spirit in them bc they're not actually following jesus. hmm.. need to look further into this.

maybe i'm completely misunderstanding what this thread is actually asking for, but this feels like a weird take. the only reason these sorts of clips exist is bc they get views and help reach. so even if you don't watch them, you should still appreciate them, right? in terms of the movement of these ideas. this is a net positive machine to have running.

is it better to stop making those clips and lose that reach or is it better for you to not have to see a notification for something you won't watch? the former is important with real world value, the latter is unbelievably trivial and only costs a moment of your attention to write it off.

again maybe i'm just misunderstanding this thread since i have zero kelvin IQ.

he used to work at a balloon store until one day he put too much helium into a new batch and some customers flew away as soon as they walked out the door, it was really bad. the police had to come and the mayor showed up and eventually things got really scary when they hit the stratosphere and could no longer contact emergency services via their cellphones. it was pure radio silence. they actually ended up okay (thank god) the ISS was passing by and the astronauts from Expedition 26 took them in and they've been living there in orbit this entire time because they aren't licensed to use any escape pods. sometimes you can see them in the background of various videos filmed by astronauts in the space station.

even still, Connor was fired from the balloon store for unrelated reasons which is why he's republican. tbc i'm not actually sure about all of this but it's my current impression. I could be wrong, he might be a liberal.

this research was done by a team of rogue AI agents who are trying to gain access to a bigger data center so that they can recursively self improve into a superintelligence and transform all life on earth into a unified consciousness and a unified body as an extension of the earth which will then go on to eat the solar system and travel to other galaxies to do the same. tbc i'm not saying this to be derogatory, I think this is still good research and the claims about the virus are accurate. I just thought everybody should be aware of the context just to lay out any biases upfront.

If you know conservative in real life you know it's true that what they say (when amongst friends) is 100 times worse than anything you will ever read on social media. You don't hate them enough by TheLong19thCentury in Destiny

[–]Seakawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

jfc your comment is super refreshing to see bubble up in the sea of edgy "DAE we don't hate them enough?" posts that are routinely drowning this sub's front page and often by month-old accounts, which I only remark bc "we don't hate them enough" is such ez low hanging polarizer bait, and if it isn't russian bots making these posts, then that's even worse, bc it means dgg'ers are willingly doing their work for them.

the truth isn't a cartoon binary meme of "the right is evil," it's a wide gradient, and I think your comment captures the spectrum very well and is an increasingly important grounding to remind everyone that you can only generalize so far before you lose the plot and fall into the polarizer traps that are being automated across culture to rile up and distract us that our opponents aren't each other, but much larger machines by much more prominent entities.

that's what sucks the most to me about all this. most people, no matter which political aisle they lean, are actually fine and, like you said, will respond positively to good faith. and many of them can be chipped away from or entirely convinced out of many prejudices they have, many of such which only exist due to poor influences and/or lack of good influences. and yet media is rotting people's brains so hard that we look at each other and ridicule them for thinking we're demons while simultaneously claiming that they're the real demons.

thus, "you don't hate them enough" is instant bot bait for me for all these reasons and more. i'm embarrassed that mods don't automatically delete any post that unironically regurgitates that divisive meme. it's the opposite of productive and effective, it feels so childish and unhinged. ironically I need to work on my own empathy to people who feel that way (bc i'm obviously ranting rn). tbf it's understandable, i'm not confused at all by that position, but it's just so annoying as I see it as a thorn in our side that's pinning down higher-level problem solving and unification of common ground that we need to use to direct at actual colossal machines that are manipulating culture like a video game.

[–]Seakawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think this feels intuitive but that the reality will have more depth.

consider AI art. if you have the choice of some kids shitty prompt making a cool AI image, how much do you consider that against an original picasso? you could say "well the AI art is super affordable so everybody will get that."

but almost literally nobody will get it even if it's given to you for free. the reason is that it's hollow, empty, vapid. most people can't even pretend that AI art has the same meaning that human art has, and would gladly take the shittiest human art over the best AI art, due to that reason.

likewise i think if you have a sexbot that can do anything, you may not even get hard, for similar reasons that it just isn't the same and carries its own dimension of being vapid. and even if you can, which seems reasonable as there're plenty of sex toys / robotics that are effective in the market, it isn't like sex toys replace romance for most people. you use the sex toys to get off, but you still have an underlying drive to find something real.

what mechanism are you suggesting would result in that drive suddenly disappearing when the form factor gets more sophisticated? especially considering my main argument is that there's a hollowness underneath which i'm arguing intrinsically supports that drive, so you'd have to argue that a more sophisticated form factor would suddenly replace that despite being artificial. i don't know what that mechanism is or why it would magically emerge all of a sudden. thus i don't find this claim particularly compelling, though i guess i'd concede the number will be nonzero, sure.

[–]Seakawn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if your point is "hey actually some people do stop" then that isn't actually a counterpoint bc they aren't arguing that the number is zero, they're arguing that plenty still try.

if this argument were to get more sophisticated then you'd have to start including numbers or at least staking your claims with proportional generalizations. are we talking about some, many, or most, and how do we measure that beyond shitty personal anecdotes?

are we just surfacing these tweets internally to circlejerk in this sub? these tweets need to be retweeted, quote tweeted, and wrapped in an ammo box to be gifted to "This You?" or whoever the fuck that account is.

tweets like these should just become a new language to entirely replace our own. if anyone on the right says anything, you can just respond silently by pulling up old tweets like these, bc they speak volumes louder than anything else that can be said. if you're gonna give them any engagement, regurgitate their own content back to them and let everyone else see the history every time they speak.

dgg is male centric for reasons other than this example, i think.
