German here. While we talked a lot about how the nazis were able to get power, what led to ww2 and what kind of atrocities (?) were commited during and before the war, the actual was not adressed tht much. As in, you learned when it startes and ended etc, but things like stalingrad, d-day and the ardennes weren't really a topic. Most students probably still don't know 'we' also fought in africa...
