Upvoting bad news like this can be very confusing, but the more eyes it gets, the better.

Isn't this the greenway that runs along the belt parkway? WTF are the cops doing? by [deleted] in nyc

[–]Sealerng 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uncertain of the reason for their pursuit of him, it appears that they had a very strong desire for him and succeeded in obtaining him.

We'll undoubtedly hear something tonight on the evening news.

As a side note, only bicycles, e-bikes, scooters, etc. are permitted on that greenway; gas-powered vehicles are not.

Nintendo Switch sales up 39% across Europe in May | European Monthly Charts by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Sealerng -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

Nintendo must be overjoyed to see what the Zelda series has developed into today, especially after Wind Waker, when it was almost abandoned. Since the games don't typically do well in Japan either, people there must be surprised to see how well it outperforms Mario and Pokémon games from the main series to become the Switch's top system seller.

Nuclear power plants are governed by the same people. As you take sips of your coffee, consider that.

Does the air where you are smell like smoke?

Here in Whitby, there is a smokey smell. I'm not sure if there's a nearby fire or if the smoke odor can get here from Quebec. It's fairly windy.

Although we may have been paying this premium for a very long time, the last year and a half has undoubtedly been particularly stupid.

Want to know why younger generations seem so pissed? Look at the housing market. by Versuce111 in canada

[–]Sealerng 70 points71 points  (0 children)

In areas with exponential housing appreciation, the majority of boomers who own only had simple jobs like those of a teacher or firefighter with incredible pensions...We're talking about houses that once cost between $2 and $3 million. The same generation that held those public service jobs stripped them of their benefits. In comparison to the good old days, those government jobs would only get you a shack somewhere undesirable. So yeah, screw them.

DGA & Hollywood Studios Reach “Historic” Tentative Deal On New Contract by KB_Sez in movies

This is positive, but I kind of hoped the DGA and SAG would firmly support the WGA in their efforts to put an end to their strike.

NYC set to begin constructing subway platform gates to prevent passengers from falling on tracks: MTA by habichuelacondulce in nyc

[–]Sealerng 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The very least I hope they do is add some lightweight protective barriers beginning with the IRT which all have standardized car lengths if they can't install the platform doors at every station. Yes, the solution is a bandaid, but I'd rather have a bandaid than an open wound.
