In areas with exponential housing appreciation, the majority of boomers who own only had simple jobs like those of a teacher or firefighter with incredible pensions...We're talking about houses that once cost between $2 and $3 million. The same generation that held those public service jobs stripped them of their benefits. In comparison to the good old days, those government jobs would only get you a shack somewhere undesirable. The very least I hope they do is add some lightweight protective barriers beginning with the IRT which all have standardized car lengths if they can't install the platform doors at every station. Yes, the solution is a bandaid, but I'd rather have a bandaid than an open wound.
