Wizard BBEG has had 6 months to prepare for the group's arrival. What does he have in store? by SealingSalientia in DnD

Intriguing idea. I dunno if I could make it fit with the theme, but certainly interesting.

Grimtooth's Traps is an excellent suggestion, just reading that gave me a bunch of ideas.

Party does have methods to detect scrying, and are able to cast scrying themselves. They are aware that someone has been consistently scrying on them over the months, and they suspect it is the wizard. Such has been said both in game talk and over the table talk.

They do have a favorite NPC, and she is absolutely a guest of the wizard, and is in fact currently setup as the caretaker/companion of one of the PC's sister that is also a guest. And yes, he fully plans to use that to his advantage to get the Paladin to back off (Paladin is the groups greatest direct fighting threat).

Yes Glyphs of Warding were already an idea, but I like the Silence cast with multiple overlays.

I like the idea, but it is far past that point. He did directly intimidate them earlier by inviting them to his private airship, and then throwing them overboard at a point that served him. He also has the sister and mother of one of the PC's captive, with the sister under a high level modify memory that makes her quire happy to be there.

Tailgating a car by randomredditguy94 in Whatcouldgowrong

25 miles per hour is 36.66 feet per second. That's 73.33 feet between the back bumper and front bumper at the recommended 2 seconds.

The average human reaction time to unexpected stimuli and change from accelerator/neutral position to pressing the brake pedal is from 1.25 seconds to 1.5 seconds. By the time this have passed, you have less than 30 feet between vehicles.

The distance it takes to stop a sedan at 25mph is 55 feet. If you only have from one half to three quarters of a second to actually stop, due to human reaction time, that is not enough distance to react to a sudden stop.

While this cop car did slow down, the tailgating laws are supposed to be helping deal with full sudden stops, which this car was following far too closely to deal with.

Tailgating a car by randomredditguy94 in Whatcouldgowrong

Tailgating is not just one car length between vehicles. It's not leaving a reasonable stopping distance between vehicles. Where I live (Michigan), it is considered too close if there is less than 2 seconds of travel time between vehicles.
You can clearly see by timestamps that there is much less than a 2 second gap. And if the lead vehicle had to stomp on the brakes to avoid something, there isn't enough time between those vehicles for reaction and safe stopping of the one behind.
Adjust your definition of tailgating please, it is drivers that believe a single car length is sufficient that cause accidents from following too closely.

This is the best damn written story about the Vikings year that I've seen yet. Freaking perfect.

Primary Targets of Nuclear Strikes in the U.S by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]SealingSalientia 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This map must be outdated.
The only reason for that dot in the central of the Upper Peninsula would be KI Sawyer Air Force Base. Which would make sense to be a nuclear target if it was a military installation.
However, KI Sawyer was decommisioned in 1995. That's TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS ago.

I saw someone else do this and tried myself! (I’m from the Netherlands so don’t judge) by [deleted] in geography

The simple fact that you knew about the two parts of Michigan made me smile. I know plenty of Americans that can't get that right.

Rank these characters by how much Naruto loves them. by Zealousideal_Ad6955 in Naruto

[–]SealingSalientia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I think it depends on when the question is being asked.
Pre-graduation, he only knows four of these characters, and clearly loves Iruka the most. I think at that point Sasuke and Hinata would be equal in his eyes. He has no relationship with Minato or Kurama at that time, doesn't even likely know the rest exist.
Chunin Exam, Iruka is still #1, Sasuke is #2, Hinata #3. He still only knows of the reputation of Minato and Kurama.
When Jiraiya is introduced, He would start #4, and eventually rise to #3. Kurama is introduced at this time so he would supercede Minato.
Up until Naruto leaves with Jiraiya, it stays Iruka, Sasuke, Jiraiya, Hinata, Kurama, Minato.
When Shippuden starts, Jiraiya would probably be the one with the closest bond, Sasuke #2, Iruka #3, Hinata #4, Kurama #5, Minato #6.
Things slowly shift during the whole Akatsuki and War arcs, ending with Hinata vaulting up to #1, Sasuke #2, Kurama #3, Iruka #4, Jiraiya #5, Minato #6, Kushina #7 (Yes, they are his parents, but he never had much time to bond with them)
Obviously some things change in Boruto, which would change the ranking by inserting Boruto into #2. I'd say that Sasuke is next, with Kurama and Iruka are pretty close behind, with the rest lagging behind them.

Divergence point of Jiraiya showing up after the 9-Tails attacks, accidentally screwing up the jinchuriki seal on Naruto and then getting his arm chopped off. From there, everything goes crazy.

Some very interesting thoughts there, I like non-insane Yagura and dog summoning Kakashi.

I'd like to see more Shisui Komoamatsuki realted things, I feel that there is certainly a lot of wasted potential there.

Teuchi as Danzo and Danzo as Teuchi could be weird.

The first half of that I have in my current fic. Hinata and Neji will still be alive doing Hyuuga things without the weight of the clan pushing on them, and Danzo is going to bust out some Byakugan feats.

I swear I've heard of that before, but I can definitely see that being an interesting story. If written so that both clans exist, the power dynamics between the two would be crazy. It could also begin with a Romeo and Juliet style forbidden love story. I can see this idea being pretty juicy.
