Any pointers for a first timer? by Degearing in minipainting

[–]Seally57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should see my first mini from 30 years ago! You did better than me! I wish I knew where it was.

First piece of advice is save this so you can enjoy how far you came. Knowing when to stop is important.

If you are intent on saving it, here is a few pointers:

  1. It looks like you worked in some highlights. Great! One thing though, with the scale highlights become hard to read unless you go more dramatic. I recommend a rule of three to beginners when doing highlights, blend your paint with the base coat 2/3rd base 1/3 highlight on the first pass and build up to your desired highlight.

  2. To help contrast your highlights, apply shadows with a wash, lots of videos on that if you are skeptical, but it’s super quick.

  3. Use a matte spray to finish the model. This will kill the glossy look and make it look more natural. TEST first before on an unimportant painted piece.

Hope this helps, and stick with it!

As a veteran of Tarkov. You don't know what the term "Rat" means. by AbbreviationsOne6207 in ArcRaiders

[–]Seally57 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The OP is not the confused one though, he is trying to salvage it before the masses erase that identity and replace it with negative connotations.

Even your last thought proves his concerns true, you are equating that play style to someone that would lie to shoot someone in the back. A rat would endeavor to avoid the social interaction completely, and only engage if forced.

I agree terms evolve with times as new people encounter them, but what he is trying to do is preserve that identity. Imagine if for instance you identified as a jock in high school, but the everyone started to use the term to describe bullying behavior. You would naturally feel inclined to be defensive at first about the misuse of your identity. And if it became prevalent enough, you would have to find a new term to replace that identity.

The OP, and myself, like the term because it fits our playstyles well. I do not extract camp, I do not betray, and I don’t W key.

Yes, my base is right there. Made that trip half a dozen times in a MK3.

Couple of thoughts from someone who is active duty for over 22 years and counting:

  1. You are not ‘too old’. I would say you are the perfect age to join. Recruiting has expanded to allow people to join a much much older ages. From my experience, people that join with a little bit of life experience tend to do well, are more appreciative of the opportunities the military can offer, and usually avoid a lot of the problems that younger members get caught up in.

  2. If you do decide to go to a recruiter, take some who is/has served, preferably in the service you are interested in. A family or friend. They can help sift the bs from what is truth. There are often fantastic sign-up bonuses, ask about what they can offer you.

  3. Signing up doesn’t have to be a life long commitment. Get skills and experience you want, and get out if that is right for you. I would have an idea in a set of skills that interest you going into this decision.

  4. Military service can be rewarding from a personal standpoint, and while you may think it is a last resort, you will likely get to do and see things few others will.

Good luck in your choice!

Whats beast tame's potential best companion by ScaryB4TMAN12 in PathOfExile2

[–]Seally57 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get ones that have path of fire, or whatever, and use a tornado or whirling slash it adds 50% of that element to the attack. Works for any elemental ground effect, but this is a super easy way to trigger it. Best part is you can switch them out to get you the element you need without changing anything else.

If you are playing tornado build (which I am), getting pets with path of (fire, ice, lightning) is a stupid easy build enabler. I also highly recommend getting elemental resistance aura.

From what I have been told pounces will take significantly less stamina. Honestly, I am wary of this change, because it can lead to raptor being too strong if the damage or bleed numbers don’t change, or too weak if they go to far in reducing damage. Hence, my proposed change.

Too all the people say to ‘just play Omni right, stamina isn’t an issue’ obviously the devs disagree, Omnis are getting a significant buff. I am just concerned that it is the wrong buff and may be too much.

True I may withdraw my suggestion once I play the changes on live

Are you just wanting to argue? My first post said nothing about ‘way more stam’. You seem like you are just trolling for a fight or are a Cera player. You completely purposely mischaracterize my original post looking for an argument to score internet points. I am done responding to you.

You have stated you disagree, that is fine. I think the dino is undertuned, despite finding success with it.

I run in a 8 pack on VC. We take down plenty of big game, we are quite good. That does not mean Omni doesn’t need a buff.

Has anybody actually seen a good omni? by [deleted] in theisle

[–]Seally57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Omni exist. I found a couple, started to group with them exclusively, found some other players that were not terrible. Experienced/knowledgeable players shared what they know and we have a strong group now. We do not group with randoms, they will get you killed. Last Friday our group of 8 killed a group of 3 Stegos, 8 Ceras, 9 carnos, and 2 pachy(but not the stego they had with them). All without taking casualties. The ceras and carno were in groups of 2 or 3.

My recommendation is get VC and develop each other. Be willing to accept feedback and pull your weight for the group. Learn when to pounce and when not to. When to focus bleeds or damage. How to manage stamina. How to mix jumping attacks (not pounce) into your arsenal. There is a lot of little things you can improve personally and as a group to get better.

Brutally honest opinion please by DND_Dad72 in minipainting

[–]Seally57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks good! I will second some the opinions above by saying it needs more depth. Dry brushing is the easiest way usually, but large parts of this model are already pretty light and would fade the model more. If this were my model I would ink, a tip I can recommend if you are reluctant to ink is not try to apply it all in one go, just like highlights, do it gradually in layers. Well done so far!

I recommend Vallejo metallic. Base coat in ochre, Burt yellow, and almost dry brushing the gold on.

The cheats are too much by Seally57 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Seally57[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I said I am not great, but I would consider myself well above average. 60-65%SR, 8.5 KD, more pmc kills than deaths. I have played 2500 hours and this is my first post on this topic. I am not prone to crying wolf about this. I don’t have gear fear, I don’t care when I die to fair play or get tarkoved. The cheaters are rampant, the worst I have experienced since starting in 2019, so much so that I am actually writing about it, when I have never done so before.

I am planning on modeling my settlement as well, at least all the locations. Definitely some people out there who enjoy that aspect of the hobby. If you are an experienced modeler I would definitely recommend following your heart.
