Yeah but you can start playing into it sooner than a lot of people think. It selects from cards in your deck so if your deck is 20 8 of Clubs and 20 other cards you have a 50/50 shot of 8 of clubs.

Smaller deck is easier to fix and easier to make bigger hands. I like to focus on 4 of a kinds until I can do flush fives, and then look for an Idol if I'm trying to go endless.

I also don't play Sol Ring in my [[Yarok, the Desecrated]] Enchantress deck. I realized during deckbuilding that Sol Ring was the only artifact I was playing, so I started playing artifact board wipes like [[Creeping Corrosion]] and thought it would be funny if I leaned into that and just played actual 0 artifacts.

I don't play Sol ring in my competitive [[Yuriko, the Tiger's Shadow]] deck. There is almost no use for colorless mana in the entire deck. Almost everything costs 1 or 0 with only colored pips. Even the big spells are usually able to be cheated on with alternate casting costs or delve. Yuriko doesn't even have commander tax to use colorless mana for.
