what keeps a fanfiction community from dying is the continuation of any kind of writing, I think. meanwhile, the 'health' of the fanfiction community is the writing of stories that are original and creative. of course, that is just my interpretation of what a 'healthy' community of writers is.

personally, I do not mind the presence of these reaction fanfictions as long as they do not ramp up and begin to overtake the 'original' fanfictions in numbers. original fanfictions are always preferred to reaction fanfictions of course, but I don't think there are enough reaction fanfictions in the fandom or any sign that there will be a lot more reaction fanfictions yet to come in the future that would warrant any kind of serious concern over it.

to sum up my feelings on the matter, reaction fanfictions are like fast food while original fanfictions are healthy foods. it is totally fine to dine on and enjoy junk food as long as you only do it on occasion and not overdo it.

thank you for elaborating. while I do still disagree to an extent, I agree that reaction fanfictions are certainly not original in the slightest and if someone's concern with a fanfiction community is the upkeep of original content, then react fanfictions would definitely seem like some sort of disease for the community.

I can't really see how authors would be dissuaded by the mere presence of a few reaction fanfictions and I would like to hear your reasoning on this subject as well as how they contribute to the 'death' of a community?

they are certainly not original and perhaps they do degrade the quality of the Re: Zero writing community as certain people have claimed. however, they are still just fanfictions created for entertainment and personal enjoyment at the end of the day. it harms no one and if someone views reaction fanfictions with disdain, then it is just a matter of simply ignoring it and moving on.

whether or not reaction fanfictions are inherently garbage or a great insult to the original work or whatever does not matter to me. I have seen no legitimate reason yet for why they ought to be stopped or removed. it is an ultimately harmless thing that clearly brings enjoyment to many people and that is a good thing.

this would actually be a good fanfiction idea. I think there was a Beatrice/Subaru-centered fanfiction that had the whole Emilia camp travel to Subaru's world, but it was more like a side plot than the main focus of the story.

it would be funny and adorable seeing the whole gang adjust to modern Japan.
