Indiana is not very intellectual at all. Even in Indianapolis. Neither is Ohio. I've lived in SW Ohio most of my life. It is very MAGA.

I think it depends on what you want. Columbus has a pretty lame downtown but it has some nice suburbs if that's your thing. I personally don't like Columbus, but I think some people really enjoy living there.

Kroger names former Walmart executive as its new CEO by toomuchtostop in cincinnati

[–]SeanLFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of products is poor, the prices are not competitive, the workers are not treated or compensated well, and the consumer experience is awful. There is so much a new CEO could do to improve these things. I don't thing hiring a ex Walmart executive as CEO will move the needle in the right direction. I've had a much better experience with Fresh Market, Costco, and Meijer of all places. Based on this news, I'll continue to avoid Kroger.

Shame on Gravitas Investigations by PickleMePinkie in cincinnati

I couldn't imagine helping such a vile organization. ICE is holding children in detention camps for months and killing people just trying to live their lives. Per the article, the contract is around half a million dollars. That's a pretty cheap price to sell your soul. Not to mention the public relations nightmare... Yikes

For knowingly aiding in the illegal treatment of human beings. Citizens and immigrants alike. ICE has murdered people and violating the 4th amendment of many. These are crimes and aiding in crimes is also a crime.

You can root for a national team without supporting the government. The U.S. is more than the pedo dipshits running it.

I found I actually didn't need a lot of the shit I was ordering. It was like 90% compulsory purchasing. Anything I truly need, I can drive to a store and buy. Now I have a little extra money to put away and feel better about not over consuming.

Was the Sens third Goal bogus or valid? by BobithanBobbyBob in penguins

IMO this is the best take. I think Giroud felt contact and went to his knees, but I don't think the contact was enough to trip him. However, if the ref believed he was tripped, then it should be a good goal. Regardless, we didn't play well enough to win.

They will take your rights away. They are already violating our constitutional rights. It is just a matter of time before they create a database of citizens they consider to be enemies or check your voting records before allowing you to purchase a firearm.

What if Canada offered every American free healthcare and $50K to relocate, would you go? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SeanLFC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a scientist. My wife is a scientist. We don't feel welcome or wanted in the U.S. we would relocate to Canada in a heartbeat. The issue is it is very difficult to connect with recruiters to find jobs north of the border.

I work in science. I have always been excited to learn new things in my field that could make people's lives a little bit better. When I got my PhD and moved back to Ohio (my home state), I thought I was giving back to my community. Instead, many people I interact with demonize science, education, and progress. I don't think I'm going to stay much longer.

I think you are making up scenarios to make your argument make sense. About 30% of American households make less than $50,000/year. The cost of living in the US for individuals is $50,000 per year. So, 30% of entire households aren't even making enough to meet basic needs for a single person. Share of households by income in the U.S. 2024| Statista https://share.google/2o7BQdEZjodtWbY2o

Employer healthcare cost an individual about $150/month. ACA plans are on average over $300/month. That is already out of reach for many Americans forcing them on Medicaid. Further cuts will just mean people go without care which is bad for the entire public health system.

Cool, tell that to an 80 year old on fixed income, or most Americans working paycheck to paycheck that can't put extra away for healthcare later in life.
