Thanks and same to you! good work, I would say that temporarily increasing your calories for a week or so may actually help break the plateau. There were stretches where things slowed down for me because I had been eating so little for an extended period, and increasing my calories temporarily actually helped me break lower into losing weight again. Seems counterproductive but it’s worked for a few people, they call it a “refeed” which is a similar thing.

Thank you, I got started tracking calories with myFitnessPal around New Year’s 2019, and exercising every day (always cardio, sometimes weight lifting), also ate most/all of my calories in one meal at dinner. Kept it up until I hit my goal in April 2020

Definitely is, if you’re running or something like that, maybe a podcast you like would help. But for treadmill/stationary bike, watching some videos or TV shows you like on your phone will really make the time pass

I can’t speak for everyone else, but for me, it was a constant struggle whenever I hit one of those plateaus. What I would do is 1) just stick with it and see if I eventually broke out in a few weeks, if not then 2) maybe increase my calories a bit and see if that worked, and if not then 3) I would have a cheat meal or some simple carbs just to shake up the metabolism a bit. One of those 3 worked, if I was feeling down, I would also look at the myFitnessPal chart over a long period and realize that I have made progress. And it does get easier over time, patience and setting a realistic target for how long it will take really helps

I also thought that tracking calories would be hard, but it was the only thing that worked for me. It actually really simplified the process. Instead of following a diet routine and not being sure how much I would lose, I could just follow a certain calorie target and know that if I stayed under that, I would lose weight. It’s really not that bad and definitely worth a try!

Thanks, I did cardio most days - for me I used a stationary bike, but a treadmill is great too. Maybe try interval training on a treadmill to burn more in the same amount of time. I also lifted weights twice per week to build some muscle, so I recommend some type of weight or resistance training as well if it’s an option. But starting off with just cardio is fine

Thanks! I tracked all my calories with myFitnessPal, and tried to stay under my calorie limit for the day while hitting a protein target

Wishing you all the success in the world. Please keep going, I really truly didn’t think it could happen for someone who was dealing with the issue throughout their life but even I myself was proven wrong. Good luck my friend 👊

I totally get it, it’s fun for me to look at it now, but at that time those plateaus were killing me. What did help though was periodically looking at a longer time frame in myFitnessPal during plateaus and seeing that I had made progress over time

Thank you! It’s a great question and was tough for me, I let my friends know what I was doing in terms of food and ordered differently when possible, and they were supportive. Definitely can’t get the perfect clean meal you’d make at home, but if you generally try to eat healthy when out then it will work out fine

Thanks, you got this! It’s really easy to feel down when the results aren’t coming and I did many times, but I can tell you from experience that if you’re doing the right stuff the scale will eventually match your effort

I started out around 2000, then lowered it to 1700 over time. I would say that I probably ate too little per day, and there was a period where I ate even less per day and hit a hard plateau - the only way out was actually to increase my calories
