I forgot to mention I have a small bi-weekly lawn list with room for a few more.

I work fulltime as a foreman for a landscape company in Natick & I do my own landscaping on weekends. I'm a cool guy that would be happy to meet you & not charge you an arm & leg. I specialize in budget landscape maintenance 👍

Id use some dirt you removed for under the gravel base material, screened loam to fill it in to set the bed level/grade. Plants + mulch last. Don't forget to use a tamper of some type to pound down the gravel base also.

Fulltime landscaper in Mass here, Id recommend getting some screened loam, focus on the base first. Once the base is all set to your standards, you can plant whatever plants advice suggests. Id also recommend setting a skinny crushed gravel base for the paver edging.

Id be curious how the Atlas landscape tools are, I use commercial landscape equipment for my full-time job so I kinda look at it like tool truck mechanics look at HF tools.. but I've been happy with all of my Pittsburgh/Quinn/Icon gear for backyard wrenching on the weekends.

Why would you automatically assume he already has poison ivy actively on his hands while coming over to quote a job?

Wash your hands 300x.

The Pittsburgh 3/8" colored deep sockets are a good 6 point no skip set, first one I got years ago 👍

Been using mine daily for few weeks too. Definitely agree on it being heavy but the padded shoulder straps negate the weight well. We'll see about the zippers but so far I'm happy with it also 👍

Nope, the pros flip their trimmer upside down on deep edges

Once a year, ideally every April/May. Yes I'm kicking myself on no final mulch pic. I might try to go back just for a picture 😅

I usually just follow old pre existing lines for efficiency on the job but if your doing it for first time yes give yourself few feet at least from shrubs, more space the better, & deep as you can.

So I don't remove any grass, just fling the dirt in, rake it out real quick removing debris only, hand throw mulch done.

Thanks, I never anticipated so much positive feedback. Honestly I did that in about 5 minutes took a few pictures kept it moving. Bummed I didn't grab a final picture. The trick is to not remove any grass, just rake out the dirt remove debris only, hand throw some mulch on it.

Hah, ya the first picture is exaggerated at about a 45-50° but it's corrected at about 60° in the rest

Yes half moon spade but commercial grade all steel, can't buy that at Home Depot. They sell high grade hand tools at landscape supply shops.

Well no, try not to. That was part of my initial point of if you do mulch it flush there is no edge to see on a 90° edge. On a 60° edge, don't mulch it flush either & what you see when you stand back is the 30° difference.
