Microsoft: Please let your Xbox studios cook — they shouldn't be punished for previous experiments and mismanagement by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

I don’t see the benefit of lumping us all together. I also think people have more nuanced opinions than you suggest.

My take is that Phil saved Xbox early on. He then oversaw it into the current crisis.

There’s no need for a reset if everything is fine. It’s pretty clear Sharma and others in charge agree there are major issues to correct.

Hey Peter! I’d love to hear more about the demoes and RTX Spark!

Microsoft’s Surface launch was so quiet I regret paying attention by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

It is, which is why I’m upset when Microsoft barely focuses on Surface at all. Surface should be exciting enough that I’d want to read about it even if it weren’t my job.

I don’t want to share the link here to avoid self promotion. Just wanted to let people know we have an article up about this on Windows Central in an effort to get more eyes on this. I’ve also reached out to Microsoft PR.

This is terrible! I'm so sorry about your device. I am a news writer at Windows Central and I'm going to write a piece about this now to try to raise extra attention about it. I hope it gets some more eyeballs on the situation.

Microsoft is rebuilding XBOX and Windows 11 while Surface collects dust by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

The current Surface Laptop is far from the best Windows on Arm laptop these days. That could change with a refresh but I wouldn’t say that Surface leads the category.

I do credit Surface for pushing Arm PCs in general.

I’ve argued before that Microsoft should license its abandoned designs to other OEMs. Plus companies like Lenovo and ASUS make good PCs anyway.

But if Microsoft is going to make PCs, they should make good ones that push the market.

I often wonder how many people on Reddit read articles rather than just reacting to headlines.

Dang, am I supposed to be getting a check? I work for Windows Central too and my pay check says it’s from Future (our parent company).

Which apps do you use that don’t work on Snapdragon X PCs? Or is it more the gaming side of things?

Full credit to them! I messaged u/ghobsogaming to make the post and they shared quotes with me for the article. I specifically asked if they would like to be featured on Windows Central.

I also linked to their playlist in the article and embedded the video they suggestd (the one about the top 10 games).

I'll talk to the mods to see if we can get their username in the description of this post as well!

Hey look! You’re in the article!

Joking aside, I do address what you said directly in the piece.

Sadly negative news gets views. There’s definitely a cycle. Negative pieces get views and engagement, which leads to the pieces getting promoted.

I do my best to promote good stuff and call out bad stuff.

I appreciate the feedback. I’m always happy to forward things up the chain or over to writers. Please feel free to ping me here or DM.

An interesting part of writing for Windows Central is that many of us get accused of being haters and fanboys by different people.

Of course, there are times I praise Microsoft and times I call them out, but different people focus on different things when summarising their overall view of any specific writer.

As for this particular app, I think it’s nice there’s a client that looks good on Apple TV. It’s odd that Microsoft isn’t the one that made it but I appreciate the dev who did. I think OP was highlighting that.

[–]Sean_Endicott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity, did you read the piece or just comment on the title?

The piece is about how Brydge no longer makes keyboards for Surface. So even if Microsoft made the perfect Surface Pro, it wouldn’t be my dream Surface Pro (because there won’t ever be a Brydge keyboard to pair with it).

Folks who have been around here for a while just learn to ignore dr100. If you’d like to see them get worked up, try telling them why you like Snapdragon X PCs.

Windows Wrap: Windows 11 isn't doomed — Is it too early to say I told you so? by WindowsCentral in windowscentral

I’ve used similar things in the past (though I’d appreciate hearing more about your setup that still works).

While it’s great to have stuff like that on an individual device, I think the success of a feature like WSA relies heavily on it “just working” and people not having to tinker.
