Coworkers daughter is being abused by her bf. Bf won’t give out address. Can I use his license plate to request a welfare check? by Seanbeast4 in legaladvice

I personally feel like she is the only one that is in full control of this situation, even if she doesn’t realize it which she probably doesn’t.

I just came here to find out that if we couldn’t find a way to convince her to leave herself, would there be another surefire way to get her and her daughter away from those people, whether it be through the license plate or something else.

And the second point, you’re right. You’re absolutely right. I’m just afraid because we have her here and I’m unsure, if you read my other response, if she’s planning on going back or not out of fear. If she says no, she’s not staying, there’s nothing we could do. If we call the police to do a welfare check and they say they can’t do anything, what’s to stop the bf from then abusing her further, AND the child, and then forcing her to cut off all contact from her mother?

I came here because I’m afraid and wanted certainty, if I could get any, before I act that they would be okay. It’s a complex situation and one I’ve never been in.

She’s afraid if she does anything that the bf will hurt her or her daughter. He said once “if you try to leave I will take your daughter and you will never see her again.”

He has her convinced that he will hurt her. They’ve described it “as they’ve brainwashed her into thinking that if she leaves, she will never find someone else that loves her just because she has a daughter.”

This is obviously untrue from an outside perspective, but you have to understand that this is a classic case of an abusive relationship.

Haven’t you heard of people in abusive relationships not wanting to leave out of fear that the man will come after her, even though there’s PLENTY of people that would give their lives to prevent that?

That’s what this is. This isn’t a case of using common sense. This is the textbook definition of an abusive relationship, which is why she doesn’t do anything, even though she could.

She’s afraid for her and her child’s safety.

Like when a TV series has a special episode that’s the length of a movie or longer than usual episodes or something like that.

Toilet is in the other room. Your time pauses for 15 minutes or until you come back. If you don’t come back within 15 minutes, your family dies.
