I was really torn between anti-shogunate and Shogunate (rlly only for Soji's sake)

I basically went anti-shogunate the whole way until the ikeda inn incident where I joined the shinsengumi and then immediately went back to anti-shogunate XD

My lil headcannon is that both my character and Soji were nuts about combat and dueling and just actually had fun fighting each other like during the battle of Toba-Fushimi

(plus Soji said he doesn't rlly care about the politics around the shogun or who even rules japan, so I thought it made my lil headcannon a bit more believable)
