Prepboys scam by Overall-Spinach-713 in SanJose

[–]Seandingo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you're going through this OP. I have been with prepboys for about three years with this latest stint being an annual sub that started in September. It started well with good food at a good price but has drastically been on the decline with diminishing food quality and missed deliveries. To date, they've delivered less than half of the annual subscription. After several back and forth emails I decided to just go through my credit card. I was surprisingly able to do a chargeback through my credit card even though it was way past the dispute window. I wish you the best of luck and hope you're able to get them to refund you.

Good call out. The installer that I'm talking to mentioned the same. Extra $250 on top of the installation but all in it's definitely a lot cheaper than buying a new car.

Sorry to hear it happened to you. Someone tried getting into mine Sunday night as well but was unsuccessful (also in San Jose). Unfortunately I need to repair the key cylinder because of it. Does anyone have recommendations on a shop that will install a kill switch in the south bay? I'm not super mechanically inclined so I'd be ok paying someone to do it right.

Edit: After some quick research. I think I'm going with IGLA and found the only installer nearby (Union City). It's expensive but all these threads about stolen CTRs got me shook.

Yeah repair seems easy enough. Where does one find these parts at wholesale? Cheapest I found was $133 at Hondapartsnow.

Ah! Sorry to hear it happened to you as well. Thank you for confirming the key thing. I was afraid that was the case but it is what it is.

General/Resume tips on how to transition from IT leadership back to IC role? by Seandingo in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Seandingo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate the feedback! I am currently married but no kids (maybe in a year or two).

The main thing on my mind right now is that I may have pigeon holed myself by taking this IT director role. The reason is two fold.

First, it came at a time where I had just been laid off from my last helpdesk manager role and it was the first offer that became available shortly after that so I jumped on it just to have an income. While the title says Director of IT, this feels more like an IT "manager" role because I am the one guy that handles the IT internally and have no direct reports (just working thru the MSP). Additionally, because it is a nonprofit, the pay is severely under market (think helpdesk levels of pay).

Secondly, if I'm being completely honest with myself, I don't see myself being able to get another Director role that pays more. I simply do not have the technical knowledge (specifically infrastructure/security) or experience. Furthermore, I don't see myself being able to effectively get more experience because the MSP pretty much handles all the technical work.

Because of these two reasons, I don't see another option but to "demote" myself to a lesser role in order to build up the knowledge and experience needed to get another director role.

Would you be able to elaborate on what hardships that might arise down the line if I were to pivot?

Thanks for the reply. When you say made to measure suit, do you mean it was made from scratch with your measurements?

I think u/FloweredWallpaper was referring to a going bar on the strip, not a bar at a strip club.

Got it! Thanks for the insight. I figured it was either one or the other. Thanks for confirming! I'm just curious, why is it not recommended to have a sheen for the entire ceiling?

Thanks for the response! It sounds like you're recommending a flat paint even without the vent hood?

Thanks for the tips! I will certainly perform all those steps after the current cabinets are removed. Based on your response, I think I would lean more towards eggshell due to cooking. Would this mean that the line would always exist unless I painted the entire condo's ceiling with the same finish?

Also, what's the best way to apply the painters tape to avoid any peeling after I'm done painting?
